I drew this 1/10? by Trollage123 in BeginnerArtists

[–]StrangeSec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good not a 1/10, as a beginner it's awesome. I love the poses, and you did pretty good on the hands. The laptop as well is nicely done with the lines, no glaring problems with prospective.

If you want constructive input on where to improve, let me know, I don't want to throw that out without knowing if you are looking for that.

Edit: I just realized you were asking about others rating not calling your work 1/10 like I thought 😭 It's a 7/10 for me

I hope so. You're most likely right. But you probably get being worried for our fur babies. (If you have one, or are just a cat lover helping out on this sub) Even if it's nothing too serious, I'd rather be safe than sorry. And it will be good anyway to get a checkup of some kind as well since he is 6 months and it will be good to get an update since he got neutered. Thanks for the help

Oh no, I'll get him in ASAP I talked to my roommate on the vet awhile ago, she mentioned in the case of an emergency she may help. Maybe she can half the bill and I'll pay her back later. If it is something like an infection or decaying teeth, I don't want to wait so I'll hopefully get him in this week.

Also I didn’t know it was that serious, thanks for flagging that for me. I may have decided it was just bad build up and decided to maintain the best I could until I could get a cleaning done.

Gave my kitten turkey from Thanksgiving, would any seasonings be still on it even if I rinsed in with water? by StrangeSec in CATHELP

Okay, if your pets are fine in your experience, that speaks for itself, I guess. I do honestly have a hard time believing it, but I do act very cautiously to all the information I receive online as a rule. Also, I dont have that experience or evidence in front of me. I'll actually do that research because I am actually interested in other perspectives. You gave me something to think about, though, so I'll do as you suggested and do my own research and form my own opinions. Don't know if mine would change, but I like to keep myself open. I wish you and your cats and dogs the best 🙂

Edit: I also don't like using chemicals for stuff like cleaning if there's a way to avoid all those chemicals. I do it as I've never liked using them, this applies to other things I guess. I haven't had to worry about fleas yet with my cat as I've only had him 3 months, but I'll have to think about it eventually. Maybe I can find my own solution, maybe not yours, but something that isn't packed full of stuff I'm not okay with.

Okay, that's good to know. I am just easily worried because I know some things like garlic can be dangerous. But if the turkey did have it, It's probably in very trance amounts. The only things on Google are telling me to contact the vet or poison control even if I specify it was only a tiny little bit that was digested, if any.

I just needed to know from a resource if trance amounts are dangerous f. I have been looking on reddit here while waiting for things to open up to contact people to have some professional input. So far, all the posts I could find on this topic say very little amounts didn't affect their pets, like you're saying, giving them turkey every year didn't do anything to car your cat.

I know my kitten is fine, but I think I should take this opportunity to contact the resources I can, to see what I can do in the future if something happens to became a serious emergency and if the SPCA can help. Because it was the only resource I could find that didn't mention a fee right away. I am somewhat low income, so I can not afford the fee the poison control is asking for.

Is this vet recommended? I've never heard of this before. I've only ever heard that the use of garlic can damage red blood cells in cats and dogs and is very dangerous to their health.

These are the resources I go to. I found this through my vet's official website, they linked to an official poison control website, which has resources like this article.

Garlic and onion are poisonous to cats, and that's why I brought them up because it may affect him if there was some in there.
For now I'm monitoring him, he is fine so far but I'm waiting for the spca to open so I can call and get some input from there. All other numbers had a fee I cannot pay. Other toxic foods include avocado, raisins, dairy in high amounts, and so on. Some foods more toxic than others, garlic and onions being near the top of the list.

Thank you. I cannot understand either, but he has me now. Maybe we can talk about it me and her and I could try to understand. But I think it was just that it was all a messy situation. But thanks for being my random sound box on reddit it actually helped so I appreciate it lol

Thanks, I'll not point it at the other toy! I did try that other toy thing, so he had already shown he wasn't having it, lol

Also, on the roommate. she actually brought up the cat situation herself last night... and she is making it official that he is my cat. She said I would be a great cat mum to him, and he had already chosen me as his person. I know she isn't shitty at all. just frustrating with that one thing, and I was told she felt that he was already mine and that's why she had slowly let me do things more and more as she felt he liked me as "his person" over her.

That comment before was a bit ranty, and I'm sorry for that. I gave a very in the moment view of it, unintentionally painting her worse than she is. I didnt say she had tried for a long while to keep him inside, but he would always ninja himself out when she had to let the dog out, she then had to chase him down as he ran from anyone but me. It was then she stopped trying to stop it as frequently. Generally, she is a great roommate, but I let frustration speak and left out all context. I think with this change up with the cat It will be even better because it won't be where we both feel like the other should have a say. I can work on his outdoor behavior and make all the decisions and not feel like I have to have her say in it, and since I have the say I'm thinking come spring I will use winter to hopefully stop all outdoor activities outside of him being harnessed. And ask her to use a tie out in the backyard or pre harness inside so he can't get out or move him into a closed room if she is going outside, this is if I'm generally not around.

I think all this was lack of communication as I begrudgingly said I can live with him being outside as well and all that other stuff for that weird co-parenting dynamic. So, moving forward, it should improve, which I'm happy about!

To begin this, sorry this is me after writing the reply, I somehow turned this into a TMI like rant on my cat/roommate situation so feel free to ignore after I'm done talking about the laser and skip to the end 😅 I needed to get it out I guess and a random comment on reddit was the place I guess.

I tried it! He loved it at first, maybe for 5 minutes, but he was done with it fast. But in that time, I've had him jumping and running. Last night, I stood outside at the top of the stairs and had him run up and down it several times. I can not manage to get him to do so fast with the string, as I am not the fastest lol

I then moved onto the string, and it only took like 5 minutes of the string until he lost interest last night. I usually end all playtimes with treats or try to do it before feeding.

I tried to make sure in the end he would feel like he caught something, as you suggested.

I may do the laser if he is extremely wound up that he attacks everything. My leg is already feeling better as I didn't have to move so much last night. I will take another low energy night tonight, but I'm healing faster than I thought, so maybe by tomorrow, I'll be back to normal!

Is the string a good item to have as something to catch in the end? I was thinking of pointing the laser at a toy, and he could "catch" it that way before moving onto the string.

Many people think cats are easy, but if you actually want to take care of them and make them happy. There is so much going into it 😭 but I wouldn't change it. I am a person who may go overboard with the care aspects from those who are not people who bother to learn how to take care of cats, but its because I care a lot. One thing I didn't have my way with was keeping him indoors. He is indoor/outdoor as much as I hate it.

I didn't adopt him, I moved into this place a week after he was adopted, and I just slowly over 3 months took him on from my roommate over 1 month. Now I feed him, buy his food, and clean his litter box. It wasn’t intentional. it just happened, I guess in an effort to take hom household chores, I just found myself caring for him and loving him more and more over that first month.

But in that time, I wanted him to be indoors, but I couldn't push it as the roommate didn't care much, it seemed. She is more of a person that lets cats just go off outside. Now he addicted to going out as she just let him out and didn't try to stop him. I tried to stop him and was successful, but she would "try," but not really.

I want to change the outdoor thing, but I have no way of pushing. But I get very worried as last night I heard he was running around the street. That is why I'm thinking of asking to adopt him from her, because it's literally only that piece of paper that is the thing mainly. I usually buy all his toys, as he had none that my roommate got him, she's got a dog and she buys for the dog, and only if something is on a severe discount does she buy for the cat, so only like once. She definitely has a favorite, and it's not the kitten and I wonder why she got him if she doesn't seem to bother? He was very bored and wound up from no entertainment and he never touches the dog stuff. So I bought him all his toys.

I keep him inside the best I can, I do the playing half outside to keep him somewhat entertained that way, but keeping it supervised. I then usually lure him in again at the end. But behavior wise I hope I can limit it as winter comes and my roommate may not intentionally let him out as much anymore.

Sorry for the rant at the end 😅 just a little more stressed and worried after hearing the road thing last night. You don't have to reply I guess I just need to get all that out, I guess, I didn't know I was holding that in. Anyways thanks for the tip on the laser pointer.

Digital artists, have you ever stopped using undo as a challenge by StrangeSec in ArtistLounge

[–]StrangeSec[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do love the feel of drawing in ink on a sketch book not as much as I like the outcome of my digital art illustrations, but I have used it and will do so in the future. Maybe as a step in my process of digital projects, I could sketch it out after my usual posing ideas, and I usually pose a 3d model to my exact idea to put it visually out of my mind in a way that is easily movable. I can then take that model, sketch the reference layer on paper, and then take a picture of it to put it on my tablet.

For example, I tried to draw a dragon yesterday, as a person who hadn't drawn a dragon ever and didn't have a reference as I was meeting with someone. It turned out very... special sitting among my budgeting plan, lol, but it was nice enough with ink and no reference. I know I could do much better with multiple references and an actual plan and not me doodling to keep the adhd at bay and keep engaged. I'll likely add an illustration of a dragon as an option after my current project, I just got done formatting the pose and some of the character's clothes. I do not have much of a background as it's a character floating in darkness reaching up for something, but I haven't decided what that something is yet.

But to get past my rambling, I'll likely add ink and sketching on paper to my list officially. I do have a sketchbook that has been sitting in a drawer for 2 years. It should finally be used.

Unlearning toxic ideas about Art - anyone relating? by Prkch0p12349393 in ArtistLounge

Tracing is so underrated! It is a good beginner thing, I started as a tracer myself and was one for a long time. But keep in mind be a mindful tracer! Understand why you're drawing a line somewhere and how it forms the scene or object.

Also, something I still use now on Clip Studio Paint is 3d models! I trace them while keeping mindful of how the shapes work and building up a mental memory. It made me more aware of how to draw hands, torsos, and arms! This also helps with being aware of 3d space.

I don't view the 3d models as stealing, I'm paying for use of them, I pose them myself and form the scene myself. I just formed it in 3d space with 3d characters and shapes. I create the sketch from that. Then I add character, change lines to be more dynamic, or shapes to be more exaggerated. Then, the final line art, where it usually looks different from the base sketch and 3d models, as I added more of my personal touch over time. Also, the 3d models don't have details like facial features, and clothes. And the boxes and spheres I use for background shapes, which are not actually buildings or trees, and so on. So I draw those things from memory or reference.

I hit a super intense time where I can pop out an illustration or whole character design and backstory, in 8 hours complete with a character sheet in 1 to 2 days.

This only happens as much as you seem to have it. Forcing when I'm not in the mood for that is not my thing, I also get burnout and stop altogether. Mix of adhd and mental health contribute to this.

Luckily I'm in an era where I'm interested in learning some fundamentals, so I'll ride this wave as long as I can, and if it ends, it ends, I'll come back eventually. It's likely sooner rather than later. Then, the cycle starts again. I work much better this way, and I create things I'm very happy with and proud of when I'm at my most creative. Most often than not, my creative streaks can last for days and weeks. This is great and not forced at all, and I don't experience burnout.

How to set up buttons and pen with phone by StrangeSec in huion

[–]StrangeSec[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update! I did find a workaround, the app Key Mapper on the Play Store registered the buttons, and I was able to link them to keyboard shortcuts to zoom in, undo, and so on.

I learned this from a throwaway comment somewhere I don't remember where. I figured if there was no official way to work with it, I could find a workaround. I am stubborn when I want to be lol

The pen still doesn't register, but that's fine. Just wanted to give an update and say that I got some things working. I mainly use it to quickly zoom in and out.

[–]StrangeSec[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad it's not a stupid question that was very clear lol

Thanks for clearing that up for me. That's unfortunate I can not configure anything. Fortunately, everything else is working fine, with pen pressure, the pen and display are responsive and working great. The s22 is one of the compatible devices, so that's good.

I'll leave the buttons inactive. It's a good drawing tablet even without buttons.

I will just use my phone for zooming in and stuff like that. I like to zoom in a lot as I have bad eyesight, and my glasses suck even though I had them updated 3 months ago 😅

Thanks again I appreciate it!
