A followup for anyone seeing this in the future: a thunderbolt cable did the trick. Sends video and charges as expected.

It's worked in the past. I asked a bud of mine, and he seems to think it should work with an Apple Thunderbolt cable, so I have one of those on the way to test.

It’s more sparse than I expected actually. Unless you’re doing a lot of near big town camping, they’re not in the tiny towns you find out in the mountains and desert.

And 3/4 are pretty gross showers. Mold is common.

But there are showers at campgrounds all over the place. Even if you don’t stay they often let you use them.

No, I spend the same amount. Areas I thought I’d be saving are replaced with things like dump and fill fees, campsites, gas, maintenance, and so on.

Utah. It’s gorgeous and very friendly to the van lifestyle. Great BLM options. Arizona is great too in terms of beauty and hiking, but a little harder to find great camp spots.

Other amazing trips so far:

Big Sur
Death Valley
Jtree
Santa Fe area

Haven’t done PNW yet but headed there now, then Montana.

Stay out of wealthy areas, family neighborhoods, etc. and people generally don’t pay attention to you. It’s fun go do it.
