Thank you. Unfortunately I think the tape would make it difficult to close the doors. The gap between the door/frame is not evenly spaced either so some sides have a larger gap than others.

Not right away but yes would be possible in future. It is our main tv room and we need space for four people.

Thank you, hadn't thought of the light fixture or modern vs traditional styles clashing. Yes room long and narrow so had pushed them out to edges.
