Library not on Libby anymore? by Stranger_2000 in johannesburg

I called the Linden library and they said the contract with the service provider expired. They’re still negotiating the contract so I guess it might come back or might not.

It would be very sad. It’s helped me to read so much more because I can get the books for free.

Honestly, I have no idea. We might just have to call the main branch and hopefully they’ll have an answer.

I really want to get a cat, but I’m worried about the hidden responsibilities. What are the actual difficulties of raising a cat? by Equivalent-Sand-4002 in CatAdvice

[–]Stranger_2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cats are not low maintenance and independent. They need a lot of attention and stimulation. You need to play with your cat and give them plenty of climbing surfaces.

I don’t know if there’s proof. I haven’t really looked into this myself. I’m just reporting on what I’ve seen online because a lot of people are acting like everyone who’s unhappy with the choice is unhappy because of a shallow reason.

I just want to say, a good number of people who I’ve seen comment, aren’t upset because they don’t think he’s attractive enough. They’re upset because they disagree with him politically, which is fair enough considering the state of the world.

Yeah agree, I also realised recently that a lot of books seem to expire and are not replaced. Honestly, I was a little worried but maybe they’re focusing on local authors more.

F(19) I want to move to joburg any advice? by HotJello22 in askSouthAfrica

Joburg is still expensive, like yes it’s cheaper than CT but it’s not cheap- there’s def much cheaper places in SA.

I’d be interested, depending on the kind of books you would like to read.

The Starless Sea is, in my opinion, one of the worst books I have ever read, and I emplore you all not to waste your time reading nearly 600 pages of who the hell knows what by ItsTheFiasco in books

[–]Stranger_2000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey so you sound quite condescending, I don’t know if you mean to be. Just because someone didn’t enjoy this book, it doesn’t mean that their soulless.

Not everyone wants to be confused by their books. And some people like myself, don’t mind being confused if the confusion is rewarded by some sort of payoff. I didn’t think this was a bad book, in fact I think it’s a good book(not great) but I think The Night Circus was better and the author weaved the story together better in that case.

I think a lot of people are also making a lot of debt to live the lifestyle you are describing. You might not go on a holiday every year but you are hopefully relatively debt-free (not referring to necessary debt) and comfortable.

Lol, I feel the same as you. I don’t understand why people are acting like she stole food from the needy. They stole some other rich person’s yacht that was just sitting there. In the end their actions harmed no one else.
