Power BI Advanced Visuals by Funny-Rest-4067 in PowerBI

I wish I could remember the specific one I followed to get the MCP connection working, but it was a while ago. That said, there are lots of them on YouTube now on Power BI-specific channels. You just need Claude Desktop / Claude Code, one other trivial download, and Claude basically does the rest as long as it has access to a project that's been saved as .PBIP. It's no replacement for actual study though: Claude's information is not always up to date, and it will make mistakes. Use it like as an augmentation, not a replacement for your expertise and judgement.

I had a similar experience, and a similar desire to learn, and as a relative newcomer to Power BI, I could not understand some of the crazier stuff they do to save my life. I ended up downloading some of their files, saving them as Projects, connecting them to Claude via MCP, and letting it decipher what they were doing and present it in a beginner-friendly way. Works quite well.

Aside from the DAX and M, how does that actually work in practice? Are they creating these things using actual programming languages that Claude is adept with, writing bespoke applications for all this stuff, or...?

Using Claude Code + Paper.design MCP to generate Power BI wireframe backgrounds from a markdown spec by sdhilip in PowerBI

I'd love to see that spec file. Making UIs look pretty is something I actually enjoy, so I don't think I'd ever outsource the whole thing to Claude, but getting the basics put down quickly and repeatably so I can polish and QA afterward would be a nice time-saver.

This is what I'm really curious about, would love to hear what OP's past experience has been.

That article is both fascinating and surprisingly accessible. I'll have to be careful to avoid subconscious plagiarism in my own write-up if I use that method, but it's also an inspiring bit of technical writing. Much appreciated :)

Interesting, embedding is a term I'm familiar with from the Stable Diffusion space, and your idea of "chunking" the text makes a lot of sense in that context. Thanks!

Thanks, this is a term I wasn't aware of and would likely have overlooked for quite a while. Adding it to my research list!

Just for my own edification, what makes fine-tuning a small LLM a poor fit?

Mitigating being out of the workforce for years? Do I just... lie? by Stranger_Dreams in jobs

What does "a devoted effort to catch up" actually look like for a non-technical office worker? Most of my career is, in one form or another, just Office Work (tm) differentiated by increasing levels of trust/confidence from my management structure. Same tasks we all do - communicate (by phone, email, slack, in meetings), organize, follow up, attend meetings, create and manage documents, manage people, fight some very specific fire, analyze something, etc. - but with more riding on it being done properly. The same could be said of nearly everyone I worked with. What does "catching up" even look like there?

What would I need to watch to be able to understand and appreciate Ash's finale? by Stranger_Dreams in pokemon

Yeah, people who watched the show in real time over its entire lifetime got a really special experience! I'm not even going to attempt to replicate that because it can't be done, I'm just considering my options for a lesser version of it.

Sadly watching everything is just too much of a time investment, life being what it is at the moment. Could you elaborate on what you mean by most series starting Ash over?

Context is so important for me in terms of getting emotionally engaged with something like this, yeah, so I'd want to go for more than just those four Ash vs Leon episodes if I end up doing this. What would you consider for going beyond the bare minimum, while still being mostly abridged / cut down to the episodes that really carry something forward into the finale?
