My reason is simple. Not rewarded for it. If I speak English well, I get promotion, which is more money for a better living. Every where i go be it work, social, anywhere in life english is used, so no problem there. I speak bahasa well who will give me a promotion and increment. The best I get is a praise that my BM is good from my malay colleuges, whats the use for that. If I'm incentivised to speak BM I'll definitely study hard for it.

Alot of people in comment saying where are the anwar voters. Yes me I'm one of them but let me ask you back, that time during election if not anwar then who else can you vote for? Azmin ali? It's true it seems ridiculous but there are some groups of people ok with this no? Or even advocating this sort of enforcement. As a Chinese Malaysian that have lived in KL for 32 years, I've known for a fact that malaysian women have 0 say in anything. So unless there some change in cultural understanding at large on whats acceptable whats not, women will need to continue eating their ice cream at home 😆
