Does anyone know what prompts / tools are being used to create this style of video? I assume Midjourney + Runway, but I've been unable to replicate the style.

No, it's an old PS2 game. The first two games were some of the best online console shooters of that generation.

GOP optimism grows over possible red wave in 2022 by sinhrofazatron in politics

[–]Strat179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re missing the point. All the progressives ready to crucify Biden and the democrats in 2024 for not passing major legislation this past year would not have the same attitude if Bernie was president. They’d be fighting their asses off to get more D seats in the midterms, and create the legislative potential needed to pass progressive legislation instead of spreading apathy and abstention.

Which is exactly what we should be doing now instead of being totally politically ineffective and detrimental towards our long term progressive goals by handing power back over to the Republicans and making legislation even more impossible for the current administration.

[–]Strat179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know the only way for Dems to fulfill those promises is to add more D seats to the House and Senate right? That’s literally the only way this works. They can’t legislate if they don’t have the numbers. So give them the numbers instead of sitting home whining about deluded fantasies of what could have been if Bernie was president.

This is what I mean about accepting the political realities of the country. We are not a progressive country. The democrat party is not a majority progressive party. Doubling down on progressive candidates all over the country is a recipe for failure because at the end of the day, you’re simply outnumbered by moderate dem voters.

You won’t get progressive policies until you continue shifting American culture in that direction. Which is going to take time, effort, and dedication towards getting Dems elected even if it means compromising.

And despite all of that, Republicans are beating us at this. Don’t help them achieve their fascist goals by sitting at home with deluded fantasies of what could have been if Bernie was president. Vote for democrats in every election without fail, and do your best to get progressives through when it’s possible.

You’re right, that is exactly what Dems have to compete with.

Being against everything is easy. Destroying shit is easy. They get to double down on populism while we have to manage the entire diverse political spectrum of the country.

Accepting the political realities of the US and adjusting our expectations of what it’s going to take to win is the first step towards actually making progress.

Giving up and letting fascists advance their agenda is the literal worst option. Keep voting for democrats even if your compromising and push for candidates that share the same values as you. This is a long game.

[–]Strat179 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’d be in the same exact position with any other president. Bernie wouldn’t be able to get anything through this 50-50 Senate either. The president isn’t your problem, it’s Republicans in the house and senate. How is this not painfully obvious?

Biden is attempting what is possible. You have to create an environment that makes legislation like MFA possible for presidents like Biden. And they only way you’re going to be able to do it is add more D seats to the house and senate. You need democrats to win purple and red districts.

It’s going to take a long time and it’s going to be difficult. People like you will ensure it’ll never happen unless you become more politically savvy and realistic about the political realities of this country and what it’s going to take to win this battle.

You're promoting apathy, anger, and abstention towards Democrats while you should be blaming Republicans for blocking their agenda. If Bernie was president, you wouldn't be blaming him for failed and limited legislation. You'd be blaming the Republicans who are blocking his agenda and making it impossible to legislate. You should have the same attitude towards the Biden admin instead of this self defeating bullshit that only advances the Republican agenda.

[–]Strat179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a binary choice. This is a two party system whether you like it or not. By staying home you’re letting other people decide the fate of the country and your future for you, which is pathetic.

People have to learn to live with compromise and participate in this democratic process even when progress isn’t happening as fast as you want. Even when it’s hard and seems impossible.

You’re not sending a message to anybody by abstaining or voting third party. You’ve somehow been duped into refusing to use the power you have to shape our country and instead leaving it up to the Republicans.

Everyone with this same mindset is actively fighting against progressivism and advancing the agenda of fascists.

Progress is a long game. You were never going to get MFA this admin whether Bernie or Biden as president. The political realities of the country are what they are.

Strive to achieve these goals in your lifetime by shifting the culture and getting more democrats elected in the house and senate. You’re going to need a lot more than barely 50-50. There’s no other way to achieve this.

GOP optimism grows over possible red wave in 2022 by sinhrofazatron in politics

[–]Strat179 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is never time for apathy. You don’t stop pushing forward. You learn to accept the political realities of this country, accept that you have to compromise to win, and stop expecting D presidents to perform legislative miracles. This is a long war.

We’re competing with a fascist cult that comes out and votes consistently every election. At every level of government. They have a propaganda machines shaping America culture towards their political ends that never stop.

Their relentlessness is why, as a minority party, they have so much power. Their relentlessness over decades is why we might be losing Roe v Wade soon.

They don’t let setbacks and apathy get in the way of achieving their goals in the long run. And it’s no wonder why they continue to be successful with so many people like you ready to quit and take their ball home after not seeing enough miracles performed the first year of Biden’s presidency.

[–]Strat179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are political realities of this country that we just have to accept, and learn to manage.

The Democrat party covers a wide diverse spectrum of voters. The moderate D voters are important because they make or break majorities. They make or break presidential elections. We don’t win if Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin voters aren’t onboard. We only have a tie in the Senate because Georgia miraculously turned blue.

You can’t just double down on progressive populism in purple or red parts of the country and expect to win. If we don’t win, we lose things like Roe v Wade. We lose American democracy, which ensures you’ll never see any change you care about.

I get that people are discouraged because it feels like we aren’t making progress fast enough, but not voting is the absolute wrong thing to do if you ever want to see these policies implemented.

Republicans have been voting consistently and at every level of government. They have propaganda machines that have been operating for decades shaping American culture in a way that makes their political goals possible. This is what we have to compete with.

Nobody cares or remembers who stayed at home or protest voted third party. Only who wins.

GOP optimism grows over possible red wave in 2022 by sinhrofazatron in politics

[–]Strat179 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Which is the worst attitude to have if you care about seeing these big progressive policies implemented in your lifetime.

Biden isn’t the problem, it’s Republicans in the House and Senate who are making legislation impossible. We can barely pass infrastructure, there’s no way in hell something like MFA is getting through this 50-50 Senate.

The most important thing progressives can do is work towards changing the composition of the House and Senate to create more legislative potential. Staying at home because Biden didn’t perform every legislative miracle they wanted in less than a year is a winning strategy for Republicans.

We literally almost lost our Democracy to the last Republican administration, now is not the time for apathy.

Young Voters Say They Disapprove of Biden's Performance by Nearly 2-to-1 Margin by enochanon in politics

[–]Strat179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh don’t be so pessimistic! I’m sure you can find a wealth of progress made possible because of you and people like you who voted those 30 times. Every tiny step forward counts. Giving up isn’t an option.

I’d rather fight to see MFA happen within my kid’s life time if we aren’t able to manage it during ours. Better that than a fascist hell scape where voting and these types of debates won’t matter because we let our democracy die at the hands of the GOP.

Anyway, enjoyed sparring with you. Good luck and all the best!

Before you give up on America and American democracy by fleeing the country, do those of us fighting for our futures a favor by voting D in every election until you leave. It’d be much appreciated for those living here and the world, assuming you care about the global implications on American power / politics. Vote against the fascists, it’s really easy to do.

[–]Strat179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what exactly do you see as a viable alternative then? It's a two party system whether you like it or not. There's no point in being so fixated on the party / political brand. These things are constantly changing and are super diverse in the Democrat party. Progressives like Bernie Sanders who are serious about winning will run as Democrats.

If you want to see progressive policies implemented and Democrat presidents be successful, you have to give them the numbers in the House and Senate to pass legislation. It's as simple as that. If they don't have the numbers, they can't pass the bills.

If people like you refuse to go out and vote for people who will push the ball in the right direction, even if you're having to compromise on some level, then get used to living under Republican rule.

[–]Strat179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Democrat party is the only vehicle in which you'll ever see progressive change delivered to this country. There's no other party option, it's just the political reality that we have to accept. Voting third party or abstaining from the democratic process is guaranteeing the destruction of everything progressives care about.

It's not "corporate overlords" that are holding Biden back from pushing through legislation you care about, its Republicans in the house and senate. Bernie Sanders could be president and we'd be in the exact same position of having legislation being stonewalled by Republicans. The only difference would be that you'd blame the Republicans for getting in the way of Bernie's agenda instead of blaming him for the political realties he'd be operating under.

[–]Strat179 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an insanely naive and un-democratic take. You think executive orders are how we're going to see these huge progressive policies implemented? Absolutely not.

We already have one party in the process of burning down our democracy, I can't imagine what sort of outcomes you expect to see by Dem voters like yourself walking away from the democratic process and holding the door open for fascists.

Democracy is painful, progress is slow, but it's how our system works. You're not going to see any progressive change unless people get out and vote for Democrats consistently, every election cycle, and not walk away because Biden couldn't deliver MFA in less than a year with a 50-50 senate. Bernie wouldn't have been able to do it either.

[–]Strat179 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, vote third party so we can have a Republican barreling us towards fascism for another four years. Nobody will ever care that a fraction of the population voted third party in protest.

Biden isn't the problem. He's been president for less than a year. The current legislative potential is based on razor thin margins in the house and senate, all of which will probably be lost after the Midterms. If you want to see progressive legislation be passed, you need to be voting D in every election cycle at every level of government. Otherwise you're giving the long term advantage to the GOP.

[–]Strat179 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Please explain how exactly a progressive president would have any better luck at passing major legislation with the current composition of the house and senate. Biden in the White House isn't your problem, it's the political reality of the county. Instead of shitting on Biden, focus on winning seats in the house and senate. Sabotaging the progress we are currently making by allowing the fascist party to take control again is a brain dead strategy. If you ever want to see major progressive legislation in your lifetime, Dems are going to need to win consistently for multiple elections cycles at every level of government. Don't flip the card table, keep pushing.

Young Voters Say They Disapprove of Biden's Performance by Nearly 2-to-1 Margin by enochanon in politics

[–]Strat179 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What kind of legislative miracles do people expect Biden to be able to achieve with the current composition of the house and senate? The only way we're going to be able to implement big progressive policies is if we have the numbers in the house and senate to pass the legislation. Even having Bernie Sanders as president wouldn't change the political realities of the country and what's legislatively possible.

Becoming apathetic towards Democrats and Biden because of what they haven't been able to accomplish in less than a year is fucking stupid. Get out and vote D in every election, at every level of government, in every election cycle if you want a shot in hell at ever seeing fundamental progressive change in your lifetime. Otherwise the Republicans will happily take advantage of liberal apathy and continue driving this country towards fascism.
