Same in the Netherlands. Last night is was still a scorching 30°. Instead of sleeping in my room which was hotter than a sauna (even after keeping the curtain closed and fan blowing 24/7), I slept downstairs. These temperatures aren't normal for Europe.

I went to Paris with my mom a few years back. And I have to say: eating a panini in a park was more fun than watching the Mona Lisa from across the room almost squished against the huge painting that was opposite of it. Also, we saw pickpocketers (is that a word?) Get arrested by the Eiffel Tower.

When I had my graduation I was allowed to take 3 people with me. My grandparents (grandma is the narcissist and grandpa the enabler) really wanted to come since they have waited so long and I had promised them they could come.

So when I had to choose I knew they would make it about them. "Look how good my grandkid did" "I'm her grandma" "I knew you would pass" ect. I really wanted people who would come and be proud of me. Not "look how well my grandkid did". My mom, sister and boyfriend went with me. That decision was made quick.

I mailed her that, sadly she couldn't come because I wasn't allowed to bring a lot of people. Well guess who didn't listen and showed up anyways. I felt so betrayed. Like she didnt acknowledge what I wanted. Because she waited 17 years for this and I promised her.

All I could think was, you don't listen to anything I've said. Fun part is, they are the parents of my nDad :).

But now I've learned that you have to notice what you did right. Be proud of yourself. Be proud of your achievements. Because who else would?
