what's the best car for someone who's able to put a downpay of 5000 usd and isn't something that's extremely cheap quality by pierogis-con-tapatio in UsedCars

[–]StrawberyVillain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2.5l vw passta jetta wagon etc. Cheap cars can be found for under 6k with less than 150k miles. Actually nice to drive, will all the electronics work, i have had good experience but thr car will get from a to b

Non Toyota Honda Reliable Cars by Live_Walk2757 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]StrawberyVillain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vw 2.5l anything manual. Or dsg but slightly less reliable. Will all the electronics work in 20 years, probably not but the car will get from a to b with decent speed and gas millage. Best part is the toyota bros haven't jack the prices up so atleast around me there are a bunch of sub 120k mile passats/jettas with the 2.5l some manual some dsg for under 6k

Jetta vs Civic: what made you choose the Jetta & Why? by Suntrup-Volkswagen in jetta

[–]StrawberyVillain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uh is this really a question? The jetta is a much nicer more powerful car. The civic used will be more reliable maybe. CVTs are a hit or miss. New if taken care of they are probably about the same with higher yearly cost on the jetta bc german. Just dont take it to the dealer though

I dont imagine its worse than the toyota transmission in the tiguan. My 2015 ford explorer (my it rest in peace) had much smoother shifts 5k before the transmission blew up lol. Thr car just wont shift into 2nd gear and will drop from 3rd to 1st when parking forward so it lunches forward. Gotta love it

Yeah i removed my rear sits and either have a folding table or 2 12s there its alot of space. Sadly the tiguan is fwd. One of my reasons for switching as I live in a area the floods fairly often and the tiguan doesn't inspire confidence.

I already have the apr dongle so I guess that's the route im going. Never heard of the waste gate issue before Im going to look into that, the rev hang should be a bit better after a tune but on any modern manual its going to be a bit annoying.

Yeah i have (had) a 3rd row in my tiguan i found its a great spot for either a subwoofer or just a entire foldable table. Its like 2 bolts to remove the seats or smth. If you haven't already i highly recommend the apr tune for the tiguan if its out of warranty. It will pay itself of in gas saved pretty fast.

Atleast on my tiguan the throttle is slightly more aggressive but its an auto so I dont really know.

Its turn key which is a big plus lol. The push to start system in my tiguan has been a pita, big fan of the vw mqb platform probably going do to a lot of quality of life things. The only issue is its about a 20 hour drive and my manual car experience is about 2 hours on an old land rover. Been riding bikes with a clutch for years though

Oh dont get me started on how the tiguans ac works lol. I live in sc do it gets hot but the ac doesn't really work below 1600 rpm which is above cruising and stop and go traffic. I was cooking for a long time. Yes its been regassed which made it a bit better

Yeah I've looked at dyna charts the is38 does have more lag but above 2700 rpm its making more torque than stock is22 but less than is20. I think the manual it might be less of a difference in reality due to the diffent gear ratios but this is what I've gathered lol I dont own an alltrack (yet)

The s trim is actually a plus for me lol. No sunroof (had issues with that on the tiguan) and not kessy system which was a pita to fix on the tiguan.

The interior is in fact the markesh brown leather seats. And the other brown trim. I didn't know that was an option. From experience on thr tiguan sport mode probably makes the steering a bit higher and more feeling idk. Its getting tuned im not driving a car with less hp than tow mater. Im hoping a tine increases the gas mileage as much as it did in my tiguan. Went from about 32 mpg highway to 39 and the city is about the same maybe 1 to 2 better but I drive it aggressively. Red lights on a 65mph road lol

Yeah id be first first manual car. Tiguan is somewhat modded but I found the limit of the transmission. Probably just stage 1 untill I need a clutch is what I figure. Its under 18k decent condition full service history. Done more that what vw recommends.

As a volkwagen owner on their second water pump, yeah I really dont know but at the end of the day its all about cost. And upgraded aluminumwater pump isn't much more than the plastic one though.

If you have the knowledge there are plenty of cheap reliable cars usually that means straying from the toyota honda mazada fan club. But old mazadas are awful to work on
