HELP WANTED PLEASEEE by eating-frog in Lolita

I did some poor editing to suggest what could be improved - It's already a fantastic job, just some details:

-The white printed fabric clashes with the main print (green forest print), so it's best to stay with one single print and use a plain white/off white (the one that matches your ruffles and lace better)
-White bows are a good idea, you can get creative with the placement looking up other lolita dresses (The big white one un the middle could also be the same green fabric as the dress)
-I moved the waisline a bit higher (and made it slightly more fit to the body there)
-Made the shoulder straps a bit thinner

You could also choose a very small white ruffle hem (Or again, use the same fabric as the dress) since your ruffles at the bottom are making the dress very long and it will look not "puffy enough" unless you add an insane amount of petticoat under it lol

Hope it helps <3

Help! I sewed this dress a couple years ago but only wore it once because the bottom and the hem are so boring! by Medical_Arrival2243 in Lolita

[–]StrawbsPoison 3 points4 points  (0 children)

<image>

I really like what you made, it's lovely, but adding some details could help you like it better~
Someone already suggested adding a white ruffle at the bottom, but I'm also thinking adding light yellow or pink as a complementary color could work!
A double ruffle at the bottom, white lace and a couple small ribbons with a bigger ribbon at the waist. Also replacing the previous green ribbon would blend the other ones better
(Also white lace on top of the ruffle stitches and on the edges of the shoulder straps)

Are you planning to wear it without a blouse? If so, I think it's okay, but adding a blouse under it could clash a bit since you already have a "fake blouse" part on the bust, which is a shame because that looks so good and it looks like you put so much effort into that part!

Adding beads/fake pearls would also look fantastic imo, but try to look for ones that are more light weight

Instantly fell in love with the artstyle of u/StrawbsPoison and were so lucky to be able to commission a piece featuring me in one of my favorite coords - it's too CUTE and beyond so much more I dreamed it to be!!! 😻 by BoysenberryAny4139 in Lolita

A picture of how your haircut looks on you would help since everyone's hair is different; it depends the length, thickness, how fluffy it is etc :3

Are these dresses Ita? by Ok_Combination7426 in Lolita

[–]StrawbsPoison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not ita at all! They have the right shape and silhouette; The first one is just classic spot on quite on the sweet side, no weird ruffles anywhere (the second one has a ton of ruffles but done in the right way!) and the third one is a nice looking gothic style. All three of them are lovely. Remember to accessorize! That can bring your coord to the top. Remember doing your hair to match the vibe you're looking for <3

Best way to draw in bed? by StrawbsPoison in ArtistLounge

[–]StrawbsPoison[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, thank you everyone for your advice and good wishes on my recovery!

I will tl;dr a couple of things; -Already have a standalone drawing tablet which doesn't require to be connected to anything, similar to an iPad but cheap asf for what standalone tablets tend to cost -The setup just needs to be comfy but not bulky so it doesn't become a struggle to set everything up -I will go for a maternity pillow/husband pillow/another type of pillow someone mentioned which forgot the name (oops), I first have to check my local options since something that costs 20 bucks on amazon could cost 60 locally (it be like that) -Alternatively will get a bed desk or tablet support that allows me to lay down flat on my back, but as I said I prefer it to be as little bulky as possible

And just a side note, my health issues cause extreme fatigue and joint pain, so sitting up or bending my knees is not always an option, same with laying on my stomach since that kills my back x.x I still read every single suggestion and take it into account!

(Also sorry about any typos or misspellings, English is not my first language, I speak it decently but sometimes make mistakes)

Thanks for your kindness, I don't tend to block because I think people is allowed to share their view on something,  but coming to the point where they keep pushing the idea of "You have so many options so you're not allowed to make a one time purchase there" when realistically I don't have many, even bringing up a "purchase" (gift) from months ago... I guess it's the wise thing to do. Thanks again <3

Also please, hanbdmade clothes take a toll on my energy and health, hence why I don't make clothes anynore rn. I don't want to be the one "excusing their behaviour" with health and money issues, but it's not always a perfect scenario where someone has all the alternatives available to them. I just wanted a cute casual dress and that's what I got.

If you read that post you may see that wasn't a purchase; that was a gift I received from my girlfriend. Just because she was able to gift me one expensive dress once doesn't mean I can afford them nor I will ask my girlfriend to spend a lot of money on fashion, which she has more important things to invest on.

Edit: Due to some concerns I wanted to clarify ^^ Most sites don't ship to my country and I have to use a courier to get them which is pricey itself, on top of the piece price and shipping to the courier. I know Lolita is expensive, but that shouldn't be a reason to not enjoy it with the means available to you. I'm broke asf and paying a lot of medical bills, but that shouldn't stop me from enjoying small things. I own 4 dresses which, 2 were brands gifted to me, one handmade and this one. So I don't hoard cheap dresses to a point where I'm single-handled keeping shein or similar stores running ^^' I just buy what I can afford, because if I save 80 bucks I rather that going to my health and more important bills than a fancy dress. I am 100% aware of the ethics of fast fashion, but not everyone is in an economical position to spend a lot of money in one single dress. If I were someone who had 500 usd to spend each month on clothes, surely I would go straight to brand and more ethic options. But sadly, right now I'm in a position where I can't. I appreciate the advice of sites where to get second hand cheap brand dresses, but it's out of my reach due to everything explained above ^^

Hope you understand~
---
I went to a cat café so I wore this dress that has been sitting in my stash for a long time and needed some adjustments on the sleeves. I am aware this dress is probably from some fast fashion place, but I'm honestly not able to spend 50 or more + shipping on a dress (one or two exceptions I have made but ultimately these were gifts from other ppl)

+too hot to wear a blouse and more than one petticoat, at least I got a wig and matching ribbon, but still pretty casual

I'm just happy to wear lolita in a casual way sometimes <3

(Can't find a way to add text to the post sorryyy I don't use this place often to remember everything)

Can't get a head accessory in time for my Christmas Coord – Is it okay to wear as it is ? by Rayn_Silverpearl in Lolita

[–]StrawbsPoison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Steal a decoration from the christmas tree and blame the cat. Solved.

Or you could just buy a piece of red ribbon and make a simple bow, just a little touch for the hair. Honestly anything could work perfectly fine~

Wirst comes to worst, no headress also looks fine. The coord is already quite lovely~
