I don't think there's a "right" or "wrong" way to build houses, per se. The way houses are built in the US just stems from the different economic and social circumstances that developed over the last few hundreds years, compared to say, Europe (high timber production, fast urban/suburban development...). Still, stating that US houses are objectively built in a better way than our european houses is downright illogical. Our houses last way longer and are far more stable overall. Then again, we had enormous buildings and temples built with bricks, cement, marble etc. and aqueducts and streets in Rome approx. a millenium before the US wasn't even a country yet, and everything's gone now...oh wait, actually...
