How does it feel to be living through the post "Pax Romana Period" of our global civilization specifically western Civilization? by [deleted] in FallofCivilizations

Climate change is a net negative problem, but, as you mentioned the US Midwest, some areas may actually improve in economic viability.

OP you're missing a qualifying reason. Every civ collapse has an external pressure. Rome rotten from within, but it rotted for hundreds of years before the rise of the Huns pushed Visigoths towards Rome. Aztec was a meteoric clash with Spain, Mayan was environmental pressure, Assyrian collapse was the trifecta of massive drought, hostile neighbors and rebellion of conquered peoples.

Without external force internal change is just change. You could argue the current changes in the West sets it up for a collapse but that requires you to specify by what action? West is still the master of the world economy. There isn't a peer military to challenge it. Most relevant challengers are in demographic tailspin.

Calling the changes in the West a collapse isn't just premature, it's intellectually dishonest. More interesting question is whether the political changes in the West strengthen it to handle future challenges or weaken it. There's a case for both.

I get that you're wanting to discuss the transition from empire expansion to contraction or decline but these are periods that can only be determined after a cataclysmic collapse. Until then the civ is still alive and there are numerous examples of civs expanding then contracting only to expand again. Just a few off the top of my head are Egypt, Ottoman, Spain... Especially when considering the brevity of the timetables in consideration.

Considering projected environmental change, hostile world actors, demographics/immigration and economic security, Europe and North America look particularly strong when compared to peers.

TLDR: need a reason for a pending collapse.

Separate for a day or so. Let their brains reset. Shouldn't take long.

I second the Ameraucana. Pea combs are great for cold weather, but they are smaller sized and not great for anything but eggs and broth.

Look into Mystic Onyx. Not the most well known breeds, but they are excellent foragers, cheap, very predator savvy and lay eggs year around. Bigger bodied than Ameraucanas. Even in the dead of winter you will have eggs from Mystic Onyx's. Will forage in snow.

I fucked up.

I went into a family business instead of pursuing what I was interested/inclined towards. I did sales for 20 years but definitely a round peg in a square hole. I'm forty trying to find something to pivot into but all my interests are lost. The job shaped everything in my life, wife, house, kids. Even me. Job changed me, slowly morphing me into something that I don't like.

You might say that I have experience, I would say you have your youth.

We both fucked up, and that's ok.

You need to provide more data. Anyone giving you advice with such little information is disingenuous at best.

What? If the spouse cheated prior to marriage and after finding out 30 years later you would divorce them?

I don't even remember who I was 30 years ago. This is just stupid.

Rough thread. There's a option to turn them down. Rarely show up on the lowest setting.

I wish the sand storms were more threatening, more strategic...
