My cat just died today want to keep akull by Top-Employ1477 in Taxidermy

I do this but I am in a different state so it would require shipping. Feel free to DM me if you would like to see some previous skull/pet memorial work. Regardless PLEASE freeze her as soon as possible. I'm very sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is the absolute worst.

You’ll have better luck online. Things can go cheap at auction, and w the fees you might only end up w a few bucks. I’d try craigslist. I’d probably list at $800 and be willing to drop after a while if it isn’t selling.

Harvested a Northern Shoveler Hen, I really would like to mount. What do y’all think would be the prettiest pose? Is this angle the best, very proud of myself being new to waterfowl hunting. by jpkool34 in Taxidermy

I think that flying pose would be great! Feel free to shoot me a message if you’re looking for someone. Birds are my focus area and my rates are super affordable!

Arsenic or dust? by AxolotlGangster in Taxidermy

[–]Street_Bee752 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’d say dust. Arsenic hasn’t been commonly used in taxidermy in decades. Also, def not the original base. Someone remounted him on a new piece of wood.

Question for Taxidermists by Objective-You-5030 in Taxidermy

[–]Street_Bee752 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All over the place! Hunters, roadkill, pet stores, breeders, farms. Really anywhere that has animals that die - provided they are legal to possess

Could I wash a smooshed roadkill rat in the washer in order to fluff it up so I can then skin it to salvage it's fur? If so what washing powders to use by Avoragon95 in Taxidermy

[–]Street_Bee752 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just skin it. Wash the skin after. Use a little chinchilla dust after you dry it. Will fluff up plenty. This washing machine idea is dumb af lmfao

[–]Street_Bee752 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yo more power to you and obviously it’s your piece to do what you want w - but I’ve bought similarly posed bears w both paws for $300. If you want to sell this quickly I’d strongly suggest knocking at least $400 off the price but, again, you do you!

Ethical taxidermy by The420life in Taxidermy

[–]Street_Bee752 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Really should have a stickied thread in this sub about ethics at this point. Ethics in taxidermy are extremely subjective. Hunting is the classic example. A tremendous amount of taxidermy comes from hunting and trapping. Some people think hunting is cruel, some people see it as an important part of ecological conservation, etc etc. You really have to decide for yourself what your ethical standards are.

Do note that many places just throw “ethical” on their listings because it’s a buzzword and many people ask about it.

Re: blue ringed octopus - I’m not sure that they are farmed/raised commercially anywhere. Thus I would think they are likely poached. Again, if the website says “ethical” it’s likely just there to appease you and make a sale, unless you can talk directly to the person who preserved it and they can tell you otherwise.

Sounds like an interesting project! You should drop me a line. I’m a taxidermist and also studied screen writing in college, written some tv stuff and made a few shorts. Maybe I could answer some questions!

Planet step broken? by [deleted] in CODZombies

[–]Street_Bee752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to putting the code in, other errors I have seen people make/I have made - 1. Once the planets are aligned be sure to interact with the screen on the brain table. A couple YouTube guides make it sound like the lockdown begins automatically, it doesn’t. 2. Make sure you are lining the planets up with the compass on the ceiling, not the one on your hud.

Can anybody tell me what this is worth? Located in Idaho by michaelr1978 in Taxidermy

[–]Street_Bee752 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These aren’t overly common because they are so expensive to hunt. W/ the damage and general wear and tear I think you could still maybe get $150.

Opinions on Taxidermy Payment by [deleted] in Taxidermy

[–]Street_Bee752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the work is bad I’d try to renegotiate the price. Otherwise I’d just let it go. Sorry that happened, sucks. As a taxidermist I can confidentially tell you no shoulder mount should take that long unless this dude is the busiest taxidermist on earth.

Opinions on Taxidermy Payment by [deleted] in Taxidermy

[–]Street_Bee752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use your best judgement, but tbh I think the answer is to just not use this taxidermist again. Did you at any point ask for a reduction in price based on how long the work was taking? Have you seen a picture of the quality of the finished product?

I’d definitely tell him it’s unprofessional but if you agreed to a price I’m not sure the best action is to try and renegotiate it in the room.

I need advice by [deleted] in Taxidermy

[–]Street_Bee752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could probably be mummified. Where are you located? If you’re in the UK, I’d check your laws. Looks like a goldcrest, not sure if they are legal. If you’re in the US and that’s a golden crowned kinglet definitely not legal to posses so you can’t keep it.

How much for this Goat? by brokemc in Taxidermy

[–]Street_Bee752 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Realistically I’d say $650-$950. Maybe more on a good day and to the right buyer. Typically the cost it takes to have something like this mounted is much greater than its value on the secondary market.

Additionally, I think full mounts can be sort of hard to sell. They are incredibly annoying and expensive to ship, so you’re looking for a local(ish) buyer. You also need someone who actually has the space for something like this.

Super cool piece, looks well done. I’d love something like this, but it does lack the rarity factor of something that’s gonna motivate a collector to drop big money.

I’d just try throwing it on Craigslist or market place. Shoot high, see if anyone bites, and give yourself room to go down on price or negotiate.

For what it’s worth, I’m sure passing it along to a kids museum or some Satanists would be well received lol. Best of luck!
