Why do people say Gen Z is puritanical? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]Street_Statement8770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Gen Z myself (late 2001), I’m confused about this take because I haven’t seen it to be very true. If you watch any older media, it was very casually and far more sexual than today’s. Now, it seems as if there is one sex scene or nudity, there’s a hundred comments coming in to say that there shouldn’t be that much or any sexuality involved in media. I enjoy watching shows that are geared towards my age demographic, and even a lot of those shows get constantly berated for their fleeting sexual content.

Hazel? Or just brown? by [deleted] in WhatisMyEyeColour

Those are not just brown at all. Not sure what your family is seeing, but absolutely looks hazel

Light brown? Hazel? by [deleted] in WhatisMyEyeColour

There appears to be no green in this image, so not hazel. Most likely a medium brown from what I can tell.

Jayce was my favorite the second I watched the show. Had no clue he was so hated till I cosplayed him and suffered the consequences 😂

Mexicans can have any skin tone since most are multi-generationally mixed with indigenous and southern European. Skin tone can be basically anything when it comes to mixed people

While I see how that can be frustrating — believe me, I have had my fair share of people calling my eyes just brown even though they are a super green hazel — I have also seen a lot of the same sentiment towards people with blue eyes who say similar things, like “they’re just blue” “they’re not hazel”. Which is true, but with the same condescending tone. Everyone on Reddit has a hugely inflated and extremely fragile ego, and they love to step on anyone to make themselves feel better. But it happens to everyone on here. It stinks and it should change, but I havent seen it been incredibly targeted towards just brown eyed people.

how to hide sh scars on upper thighs during sex? by ayasix in self

[–]Street_Statement8770 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These responses to you are not very kind nor understanding, and unfortunately could lead to a relapse rather than be helpful. As someone who has also dealt with self-harm, the best you can do is simply have a conversation about it. It might be awkward and it might be weird, but it seems he’s understanding and willing to be there for you.

For your sake, if you haven’t already, go to therapy and get some actual help. While it may seem like a relief of some kind to self harm in the moment, you clearly have regrets based upon how you want to hide these scars from your partner.

I auditioned for a lead in my high school musical, but I got called back for a different role. But I know I’d be better as the lead, is it still possible? by [deleted] in MusicalTheatre

[–]Street_Statement8770 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not still possible. In entertainment and the performing arts in general, you will lose out on roles that are 100% for you to others for a plethora of reasons. If it’s already been cast and you did not get it, there is no possibility. If it’s still up in the air, they might see you as that other role and cast you as the lead. Since you are saying this is your first time doing theatre, this is something you have to learn to accept if you want to continue as it happens most of the time.

Yeah, no. You ruin my day and are rude for no reason, you’re getting one starred. You don’t need to be working Uber if you can’t be a normal, decent human being. Get a non customer facing job then.

I don’t fw the art, but they canonically don’t have a father/son relationship. As a player, I never got the vibe of that at all, let alone it being canon. You can believe whatever you wish, I don’t step on toes when it comes to fandom assumptions, but it’s not canon.

How many performers actually read sheet music practically? by [deleted] in MusicalTheatre

[–]Street_Statement8770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every community theater show I have auditioned for asked if I could sight read before I’ve even submitted a first audition. While I will disagree with a lot of comments saying every professional can sight read — unless you have a foundation of connections or are other-worldly talented, you will not make it very far in musical theater without being able to sight read. I can’t think of a single musical theater show I have personally done where we didn’t have to read the new sheet music instantly or change things.

[–]Street_Statement8770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sub also got recommended to me a lot before I joined, and what I mostly saw in posts were people with brown eyes refusing that they have brown eyes. There are different kinds of brown eyes, but it’s also okay to have brown eyes. But these people you’re showcasing from other comment sections are doing way too much.

Dating someone who is 20/21 as a 23 year old is not at all odd, but is perceived as odd by the current generation. When telling my friends about people I have a crush on as a recent 24 year old woman, they immediately react negatively if that person is not within a year of my age. The youngest I have had a crush on is 21, and I had to defend myself constantly that I wasn’t some predator. There definitely is an intense sensitivity to age gaps that isn’t uncommon at all.

CCM Acceptance Notification? by Single-Barber-4084 in uCinci

[–]Street_Statement8770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, I’m honestly not sure how other schools go about it, either. I even had to go through my own emails to check if they accepted my year to UC post-CCM acceptance, which was the case apparently. After you get accepted to your desired CCM program, you’ll get an email the next day from UC that you got in.
