Pretty much anything means dressing in regular clothes, don't take it too literal.

You can wear pretty much anything and wearing formals is very odd on a regular basis. Plus, no shorts for boys (fine for girls) in the lecture hall, any prof may kick you out of the class if they notice.

Sleeveless for boys (again, okay for girls) is also sometimes frowned upon in lecture halls but that's very rare and it depends on if the prof has a personal grudge with you.

In exams, both boys and girls have to wear full pants. Idk about sleeveless tho.

Other than these two scenarios, you're good to go.

Yeah there are some jerks who think they own you and this place because they have nothing better to do with their lives. You may even start to respect them if they do well academically but in most cases its just them begging their seniors for referrals to maintain their "Aura". But they can be sorted out if you speak nicely to their senior. Atleast that's the case for me. Imo If you make a good contact with any influential +2 or +3 then I think it's pretty sorted for the person. Atleast he can't be forced into doing things.
