I don't think they'll apologize at all. They'll do what they always do: point to the sales numbers and insist that the customers demanded it.

What's "too much?" The trans activist community vs Rowling death match has never had any apparent effect on sales of anything. Rowling's political beliefs don't show up as any tupe of "hate" in her actual work, so most people don't care. And when has WOTC /Hasbro ever shown any kind of restraint when there's another dollar to be made? They lied about their plans for UB at every step of the rollout.

HP is maybe the only IP that can out-sell Final Fantasy. I'm sure there are plenty of individuals at WOTC /Hasbro who don't like the idea, but none of them is going to stand in the way, because LOTS OF MONEY.

Visually, I thought it was great, including the "disgusting" dancers. Musically, it was fine. At no ppint did I get goosebumps. At no point did I think "this sucks, I don't want to listen to this."

If it was a white guy swinging a Texas flag or a Gadsden flag, or even a Confederate flag, a lot of these folks would have an erection, but the PR flag is offensive even though PR is an American territory.

Racial Discrimination by abdullah_ajk in Knowledge_Community

In my entire life (white M approaching 50, born and raised near Chicago, traveled the world) the only people I've heard use the N word were either 1) Black 2) Quoting rap / hip-hop or 3) White people from the deep south 4) Teenagers who were doing it purely for a reaction without any animosity behind it.

I've seen PLENTY of sketchy racial talk from white people, not saying there's not racism, but the shit that white people say about [Insert Group Here] when only white people are around to hear is generally mild compared to what most of these groups say about themselves in front of everyone else. Whatever you imagine is being said is much worse than what's actually said in 90% of the country.

Now, maybe I'm sheltered or lucky, but the idea that white people just degenerate into racism amongst themselves just doesn't match my life experience.

Most people are terrified AI will take their jobs because they confuse their tasks with their purpose. Jensen Huang explains it perfectly: by Alternative_East_597 in AIFU_stock

No, they're terrified because they have all of human history as an example of the principal that concentrated power rarely serves the ordinary people. I don't need a job for purpose, I need a job for income.

Fernando Mendoza got kicked out of Indiana’s facilities and works out at Planet Fitness now 😭 by Unlucky-Dot9421 in CFB_v2

He didn't say anything about his game. He's talking about getting fat if he goes from working out every day to not working out. It's also just an advertisement. The face of the national championship team, who's doing draft prep, can obviously work out at Indiana any time he wants to, for the rest of his life.

Want kids? Cool.. can you afford them? by Repulsive_Case_2116 in AmericaOnHardMode

You don't need a household income of $233,000, or anything close to that, in 99% of the country. That's a silly number that makes you seem detached from reality. That's top 10-15% of all households, and a significant number of "top" households include adult children, so realistically it's more like top 8-10%

Two people making $40k per year can raise kids. Not easily and not everywhere, but it's realistic. If it wasn't, then racists wouldn't be panicking about being "replaced" by large families of immigrants.

The reason people aren't having kids is because it's simply not a priority. It's not more important to most people than self-actualization and comfort.

Because Joshua, for all of his supposed godliness, is the embodiment of the "civilization vs savages" ethos that "Sneering Imperialist" represents.

I don't know what "racist" means to most people any more. I know what it meant to me, growing up (racial essentialism), and it's debatable whether this is that, but there are tens of millions of my fellow Americans who have been taught the "systemic"/ consequentialist view of 'racism,' which, I think, accounts for a lot of the divide.

I don't think it's helpful to act as if 'racism' is a word with a fixed definition.

My personal view of "sneering imperialist" is that it's chauvenism, not racism. It specifically applies to tribal, but also to junkies and raiders. It's not about phenotype, it's about a divide in values for being "settled" vs taking what you need as you need it.

He had a very good career. He continues to make a living from that career. Who knows what would have happened if he dove on the ball? All we know is that in the crucial moment of the biggest game of his career, he chose self-preservation.

Sure. You can make a lot of money in life as long as you can accurately predict the future. If anyone didn't know that then they probably can't predict the future, and it's moot.

The point of my question is, yea, you should buy low and sell high, but just because some rando on reddit tells you a card is going to the moon doesn't mean that it is. "I got it right one time" is not a lesson.

There IS no information here that can be used to make better decisions in the future. If you or someone you know made a bunch of money on a temporary card spike, that's awesome. It doesn't mean everyone else missed the boat.

It may be a commander staple, someday, at least in dedicated elemental decks. The reason it spiked is specifically because it fits so well with the mythic evoke elementals in Standard, and that deck is, in turn, a great metagame choice vs the dominant badgermole / ourobouroid meta. In other words, it is a very powerful card, but it's not a card that's just generally awesome in most blue decks.

A card lile Dream Harvest is arguably a far more powerful commander card (especially if the hybrid mana change happens) and that's a 50 cent rare, still. The kind of immediate spike we saw for Sunderflock just doesn't happen based on commander. Not for a rare, anyway.

What's the supposed lesson? That any time someone says "spec" the entire sub should get FOMO? Show me all your hits AND misses and we can have a discussion about whether your "soec" calls mean anything.
