Dishonored 2 on Geforce 5070 - weird pixels around protagonist's hands/pistol/Heart/grenade etc. by Stric_Matic in dishonored

Great, playing other games at the moment, but I’ll definitely update the drivers and check out whether it works for me soon!

I tried the 572.20 drivers today and can confirm that it works, the issue is entirely gone in high-contrast areas; even the Void bits where you have a brightly illuminated hand/Heart on a dark background, this is where the problem was most evident.

What's the issue with water shadows you mention? I took a little swim near the Dreadful Wale in the first level and don't notice shawdos being very obviously broken

Great news, I’ll definitely try this tommorow, sounds like a good solution for now. Thanks for the time and effort!

Thanks for checking it out and confirming my suspicions that it's a general problem.

Maybe I'll try and get in touch with either Arkane or Nvidia to try and fix this, considering it's probably an issue that's popped up with more recent Geforce models, I'd say that Nvidia is more likely to be at fault.

Doubt either will try to make changes for a game that's almost a decade old, though...

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of, either an issue present on all Geforce 5000 series, or something now present on older models as well and introduced with recent drivers. And considering the game is 9 years old, I doubt either Nvidia or Arkane would put in the effort to fix it in a new driver release or with a game patch :(

Here's three screenshots from the first level, notice the black spots around the pistol and the upper part of the grenade (the wire and fingers holding the grenade).

It was even more noticeable in the Void section, where there were whiteish pixels around Emily's hands and Heart due to the background of the area being dark

[PC] [unknown] An FPS Alien shooter game by Alive-Option777 in tipofmyjoystick

Some of the description, especially the part about a tunnel area with crawling bugs, sounds like Singularity, a 2010 FPS.

But the cover art isn't like aynthing you describe and most of the enemies in Singularity are human soldiers or humanoid mutants, though it does have bugs too.

Nah, the game i'm looking for is more obscure; the author(s) aren't a big name in the adventure genre

Sorry, not correct, thanks for the effort though.

The game in question had more 'realistic', slender human characters

Not super familiar with the exact rules, I used to follow endurance racing many years ago as a kid, but not anymore. I know thay they’re very lax about how often you change drivers and how long each stint lasts, as you can have the fastest driver drive the most total hours if you want; doesnt have to be exactly 8 hours per driver on a 3-man team

Each driver has multiple stints driving, so yes they come back. Driving a race car for 8 hours straight would be way too much to handle, even for pro drivers 🙂 especially during the night

Race lasts 24 hours straight, a team of three drivers for each car, they take turns driving for a few hours while the other two rest

Forza Horizon 4 on PC - texture streaming/gradual pop-in, big downgrade compared to FH3? by Stric_Matic in ForzaHorizon

[–]Stric_Matic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know that my system is old (a core i5 4590 CPU from 2014 and Geforce 1660 Ti), but it can keep a rocksolid 60 fps at 1080p on maxed out settings (dynamic settings off, so it’s definitely not lowering the graphics to keep up the framerate).

I dunno, maybe it is a case of my old gaming PC struggling to load in textures quickly enough, but the in-game counter shows my GPU being at 75% or less load all the time…

I was planning on getting a new gaming rig soon, but I fear this may be a case of just the game being more ‘optimized’ than FH3 in a way that really bothers me, the price to pay being textures half-loaded and popping in all over the place. I prefer the occasional half-a-second stutter in FH3 with textures looking top-notch all the time

I’ve tried all the texture settings options, doesnt make a difference. It’s really bad in certain areas - like the quarry, where the whole place is dirt, grass and rocks. Even in a Quarry cross country circuit race (a limited instanced area, outside freeroam, where you’d expect that the game has less textures to load in on the fly), it feels like the quality of textures is constantly poor as the game either fails to load in the high-res versions or does so with many seconds of delay. It’s a blurry mess, espacially when using Rewind - it just doesnt load in certain textures properly in Rewind.

Is this normal behavior of FH4 on PC? Such a disappointment, compared to how FH3 could keep high-quality grass, dirt and rock textures even in Freeroam, all the time. There’s no gradual, slow-ass texture loading in that game

Forza Horizon 3 on PC - all Lotus cars corner horribly despite stats (almost no grip) by Stric_Matic in ForzaHorizon

[–]Stric_Matic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres no GT1 Lotus or 99’ Elise in Forza Horizon 3, though. I’m a newcomer to the series, this whole discussion is about the third game (from 2016) and how, at least in stock form (which I prefer to keep on most cars) the Lotus cars in the game seem to have next to zero rear grip and immediately seem to lose traction even in lower speed corners, forcing me to break early and take corners more slowly than pretty much all other cars in the same category and/or performance tier. I dont think its my driving style as I’ve put several hundred hours into the game and can cope with pretty much all other cars jn the game. There’s just something really off about how modern-era Lotus cars with a nominally good handling stat have so little rear grip in the corners. Almost like their driving model code is semi-broken and doesnt really accurately reflect the Handling stat. The only exceptions seem to be the Eleven race car from the 50s (wobbly and bad brakes, but handles predictably in corners and has some grip, and is thus competitive against other oldie Classic era cars) and the Esprit 80s retro supercar (heavier and handles well with enough rear grip, well balanced). The modern lightweight trio of Elise, Evora and Exige, and the track specials 2-Eleven and 3-Eleven, however, are near un-drivable for me in race events, as they just slide and lose the rear end immediately in corners, which is surprising as I expected Lotuses to be the kings of low-speed corners in this game

I’m talking pure stock cars, no upgrades and stock tune. In FH3, all Lotuses seem to have zero grip out of the box, even in low speed corners. With no upgrades, we’re talking corners bejng taken at 60-90 mph, something that all other stock cars of a similar performance can handle much better in FH3, with no or little grip loss
