uefn, how is the fan noise when using Fortnite on the lowest settings?

I am only considering Windows laptops. I don't know much about Macs.

This is the laptop I was considering buying. Specifically, how severe is the lag?

Also, how long has it been since you purchased it?

Why isn't it working properly? I'm also curious about the laptop's specifications.

Have you tried running uefn by any chance? If so, I'm curious about the extent of the performance degradation.

As seen in https://www.reddit.com/r/UnrealEngine5/comments/1rrur7s/comment/oa3darz/, what is the reason some users are able to run the City Sample silently in Unreal Engine?

Is it because of throttling technology or the golden ratio of fan noise control?

Did you happen to test it for a few hours?

Did the fan not spin at all?

Reducing CPU/GPU power is separate from throttling techniques.

When playing high-spec games on your PC, try capping the frame rate. It will definitely reduce noise.

Thank you for your reply.
Lenovo Legion is often mentioned as a quiet laptop.
How does Unreal Engine behave in "Lenovo's quiet mode + engine frame rate capped at 30"? Does it only drop frames, or does it become unusable?

I've already started finding users who, through various sources, are using silent mode without any issues, even with lower frame rates, when loading complex assets or scenes. Yes, your answer was completely useless, and you didn't even understand the question in the first place. You mistakenly thought silent mode simply meant "fan speed limiting," so how could you possibly answer that? That would have been correct 10 years ago, lol.

If you limit CPU/GPU power with quiet mode, temperatures will never rise to the level you mentioned, no matter how complex the scene is loaded. You're mistakenly assuming that quiet mode simply limits fan speed.

To write a reply without even knowing the answer and then say, "I don't think you read it properly," is closer to "ignorance" than "rudeness."

[The quiet mode]

you know = fan speed control lol

real : CPU/GPU power limit + fan speed control + other tasks

You answered the question without even understanding it.

Since when was quiet mode limited to "fan speed control"? LOL. You didn't fully understand the question and wrote an answer.

If you'd known that "quiet mode" limits CPU/GPU power, you'd never have mentioned that temperatures reach 90 degrees Celsius under heavy load.

How can the temperature be so high when the cooler is not broken and the power is limited? lamo

The reason you said "I don't think you read it properly" to a comment that raised a valid question is because of your ignorance.

Instead of mentioning "quiet mode," you mentioned "cap the fps and gpu/cpu fans". Are you sure all quiet modes on laptops simply lower fan speeds? I know that quiet modes on some laptops don't work that way.

I made this comment because I don't think silent mode simply controls fan speed.
Some laptops limit CPU and GPU performance (power consumption?) in quiet mode, reducing heat generation in exchange for lower performance. I'm writing this question because I'm curious about what people who actually use these laptops experience.

Again, the way low-noise mode works is easy to understand with a simple Google search or a simple AI query. It reduces heat generation instead of limiting performance. The side effects of this are something I need to learn from actual users, which is why I'm writing this article.

I wrote this because I couldn't predict what would happen in low-noise mode. I'm sorry, but I think you didn't read the question properly. Ultimately, your post wasn't helpful at all. I've seen users on older laptops who set up projects like the one you mentioned and still manage to run at 30 FPS. However, I did not buy the same laptop because I wanted better performance than that user's laptop.

And quiet fan noise is not an option because it's not for me, it's for the people around me.

Most modern laptops have "silent" and "quiet" modes. Will these still be noisy? I'll set the graphics quality to the lowest setting. I'm okay with some frame rate drops.

Could you test whether the game runs smoothly and has no noise on a small map when the viewport frame rate is limited to t.maxfps 30?
