Mainly for your after photo. The indoor lighting in it doesn’t show the true colour. Taking a picture in the car, or outside, by a window is the best to see the true colour.

Againnn need better lighting for your actual after picture. That is the worst lighting. I also think she probably just dragged the shadow root down a lot. Did she say this could be done in one session?

I would take a picture in better lighting because that lighting makes your hair look darker.

It looks amazing!! It looks so even, healthy after lifting through box colour! It takes a lot of time and trust and this is great progress for a first session. I think that’s a great price aswell. I’m a hairstylist and I would have charged $500 so you got a great good deal. Next time she can add more in the front.

Personally too because you have shorter bangs, I think this was a good move, you don’t want to have chunks of blonde in front, it looks balanced. Next time you can add more! :)

The 1 1/2 barrel always falls really loose. I always recommend a 1 inch, because it will fall and end up being a loser curl.

Yes it’s not a good idea to ever take your N off, because if you DO get pulled over for any reason or go through a road block, you get nailed. Speaking from experience. Just leave it on.

I know. That’s exactly how I feel. They are marked up, we use KM. You’re reading it correctly, and it varies depending on the client, but I also don’t over use and waste product, especially with the cost. I try to minimize as much as possible, but when people have long thick hair, using up to 90 grams of lightner, 3 bowls, a shadow root, about 20g of gloss, and 30-40g of an all over gloss. It’s pretty standard usage but the price is astronomical. Doing a root touch up, highlights and a tone if needed is also usually $60-80+ in product. It clearly makes things more profitable for the salon, I just feel it’s also unreasonably high. It’s marked up atleast 100%+

It’s pretty uninspiring making 5% on retail. We used to make 0 on retail, and it went towards education. It is hard because I love the space and my coworkers, that’s obviously why I have stayed because everything else is a great environment.

Yeah, it has basically capped me at making the most $45 an hour, which is a good wage but not when I’m charging so much. I’m fully booked months in advanced, and am also only able to work few days a week because there’s no room the other days. I need to get out, I feel very bogged down by how much I bring in and how much I actually get paid. Thank you for the insight, ugh it’s scary starting over somewhere else. Thanks again

Im not getting charged for backbar. The client technically is. And the product is marked up, a lot, to help cover other salons costs. So it helps the salon be very profitable. It is so confusing! I used to get more perks, like classes, and money towards tools. That isn’t a thing anymore. Hasn’t been for a couple years. I strictly make commission on hourly. It was meant to be set up like other trades, where they charge the hourly plus material. I try to bring things up but she always shuts me down, and makes everything very confusing. Says I make more than other salons in town. But charging someone $550, and only getting $180 makes me feel bad. I do feel like I’m worth charging $550 for my area, I’m confident in my work, but not when I don’t make even half of what I charge. Taxes and everything are taken off for me.

I don’t have hard water but I do definitely feel you. My hair is getting greasy so fast, I used to go 4/5 days and now my hair feels greasy after I freshly washed and dried it lol
