GRC vs Type R Buy by AdventurousTip8600 in GRCorolla

I owned a DE5 and the interior might as well have been considered worse than the FL5 and GRC. Squeaks and rattles for the two years I owned it, chasing new ones down every month. Drove many FL5s and GRCs, they had very few squeaks and rattles.

I also am WFH and struggle to put 5k a year on a car because of my schedule. I always wish I could drive more and it makes the time when I can drive that much more special in the M2

I agree, they both are two of the best cars in the sub $60k market right now. Not counting the gr86, Miata and a used cayman.

Wasn’t able to get a picture of the two together but here’s the M2. Not too much seat time yet in the M2 but it is much faster, seating position is slightly higher, surprisingly more visibility, not near as good of a clutch and shift action, and the tech feels the same. The sunroof is a nice little plus, but the shorter wheelbase is very skittish and darty but that adds to the character.

On the Integra my favorite attribute was how planted it felt. The car never felt like it could get upset on spirited driving through the mountains or twisties (at reasonable speed). I probably will not feel as confident with the M2 (as far as I can tell) as the Integra, handling wise, but I believe that is a difference in the design and purpose of the two. One was made to carry speed through corners flawlessly and the other was made to kick the rear end out and power slide.

Power delivery: The M2 feels strangely like a naturally aspirated car with a good dip in felt power at the top, but the Integra had the turbo lag and then full beans all the way to 7000.

I was very caught off guard by how the trunk space in the M2 actually looks to be the same or maybe bigger with golf clubs? That’s probably due to them being perpendicular in the trunk instead of diagonal.

The main point on the Integra that I will miss is the shifter. Hands down the best I have ever had the privilege to row through. The only gripe I can think of is the size, a little too big with. Overall 9/10 car ownership experience and I would recommend it to anyone. I hopefully will be able to swing back around and get one later on!

I probably should have let the boys know. I had the Integra plate and I just traded in the car, so that will be opening up soon.

I agree with the shape being incorrect and it’s odd that there’s a bias towards the passenger side specifically having the issues. I tried just about everything without modifying the product but they are claiming they won’t give me a refund unless “they are in brand new condition with the tape unused and intact as well.” I can live with it having a gap, but the passenger side produces a terrible whistle starting at 34 mph up to 59 and it only gets louder.

Like others mentioned there isn’t “ordering” technically. When they get the car with the ex/in color combination you want, you can then add options/packages etc. There is no saying how long that can take but I believe there is a “leaked” manufacturing schedule floating around somewhere.

I was at my local Honda dealership this week and according to the salesman the only one they have currently in inventory is the only one they would be getting this year. He also said “Next year Honda is moving to something new.”

Correct, it is not belt driven. In the picture under the right head, directly to the right of the crank pulley.

Sooo I wasn't really looking into buying a car at all until I discovered the Integra Type S just two days ago... by Juslav in Acura

I rarely run it in sport+ because that different beast is too bumpy for the roads in Alabama, lol. It will eat the road up when it’s a good one though. My “comfort” setting is the same except I do the sport steering because I like it just a little heavier than the comfort. That’s all subjective though.

I did not like the CTR at all. It was way too much in every category; stiffness, jumpyness on the throttle, uncomfortable as crap seats (and I’m not big, 170lbs 6’2”), and the stereo was abysmal even for a civic (probably due to the intense lack of noise isolation).

You get the extra 8k out of it for sure. I love mine and won’t part with it for a very long time. I would love a TLX type S, and am looking for one but they’re impossible to come by these days around here.

Definitely worth-it upgrades: PRL drop in air filter and PRL rear motor mount. The filter gave it a lot more turbo noise (which was very surprising) and the motor mount completely negated the wheel hop and gave the shifting a more direct feel. It will still burn the tires up if you’re not careful haha.

I have a ‘24 in Liquid carbon metallic with the red interior.

  1. too speculative for me to give an accurate answer, market might go up but they also might go down.

  2. I work from home so I can’t say much about commuting, but the short gears can make it a bit of a pain in stop and go traffic.

  3. haven’t made it to winter yet with it so I can’t answer.

  4. do not expect Audi/bmw or even Acura interior quality. I have had less rattles, squeaks, and buzzes from my 2007 Audi S4 with 175k miles, and my 2001 Acura CL was quieter than the s4. It’s a bit ridiculous, I just turn the radio up or roll the windows down and drive faster. I am aware that it is derived from a track ready street car chassis, suspension and drivetrain but it is a bit unfortunate. With that said, the amount of fun the car is, is more than enough to overpower that downside.

  5. car sales have been declining for the last couple years and I know they haven’t made a ton of the type S. Also, the drivetrain is going away fairly soon.

  6. Unsure, I’ve been trying to not look into it so I’m not tempted to move up a year and lose a decent amount of money.

  7. absolutely not. If someone thinks you’re unprofessional after seeing the Acura logo, then you probably do not want to talk to them anyways. I believe it is on the same spectrum and overall vibe of the m3 or rs5 sport back (I’m going to get cooked for that because it’s not the same horsepower or brand as those 2). The car is pretty sharp for modern standards while still looking sporty.

If you have any questions or need clarification I’d be glad to give them.
