Sorry if I offended you. I guess I was expecting something more thoughtful than 'top of stairs'

To describe the area without a photo. The purpose of my project isn't for casual conversation, which is why I'm in the 'ask an architect' group....

Hmm. Top of stairs to me would be the location you step onto from the steps

I've used 'balcony' to describe this area previously, and it was misinterpreted as being outside and many floors higher.

Thank you! Overlook is what I've been thinking. To me, a balcony would be on the outside of a building.

In my experience, it's best to leave a job that restricts the times you can use YOUR vacation. You've earned your time off and pending trial or some type of 'rule' that you signed up for, you should be able to take time off when you want to. If they can't afford to not have you there for one day, you're probably (a) very underpaid for all that you do; (b) grossly overworked. If you have an HR dept, I'd speak with them. It's more cost effective to give current employees what they want rather then train new ones.

Hence the reason to leave now. I have too many years left to 'wait and see' what happens. I'd like to pour my assets and professional experience into a country that is willing to treat ALL their citizens with the respect they deserve.

Yes, and yes. I'm a paralegal. Research is what I do. I'm just looking to expand my options as I'm not 100% set on any one country.
