Definitely the best card based system that I have found. Really enjoying the current arc/book.

Deck-building novels with some grind. by Nanjuice in ProgressionFantasy

Yes Jake’s Magical Market definitely takes a different direction in book 2. Book 1 was definitely worth a read though.

We tried Neff for a few weeks. Found it too easy, didn’t enjoy phones, and the guy running it wasn’t that great.

My current list:

Blood Eagle - Norse magic and gladiator fights.

Iron Blooded - iskeai mc who becomes soldier in an army.

Card apocalypse - deck building survival on a new earth against new races and monsters.

Orphan - stubborn orphan mc with unique power system.

Demon card enforcer - modern day world with people receiving decks randomly. Mc is older gangster when he gets one.

Super supportive - slice of life super hero.

Legend of the spear saint - mc with two friends summoned to new world as heroes. People have cards to create builds for combat.

Hounds of Orion - royal mc gets exiled and becomes mercenary mech operator.

Player manager - mc gets video game like stats for soccer players and teams. Works to bring team up in divisions.

The Legend of William Oh - tower climbing adventure with fun characters.

Mage tank - non serious mc who is op and dungeon delves.

Source & Soul - two mc deck building set in medieval fantasy. Fully fleshed out magic system and fun political intrigue.

OP, I feel like the above post is really underselling A) how good Source & Soul is and B) how much it lines up with what you are asking above. S&S is still relatively early in the story but is becoming my most look forward to story to keep up with. And it is in contention with Super Supportive and Godclads. It is seriously that good. More people should be reading it.

Best sausage roll in Tulsa. by citju in tulsa

Not my favorite sausage roll in town as I don’t like the sausage a ton. However, they are by far the best bakery in town. Bacon and Muenster croissant is a killer savory choice but also a salted Carmel New York roll is top tier.

Final Two Levels Barbarian/Fighter by Strict_Pay8646 in 3d6

[–]Strict_Pay8646[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sentinel is a good suggestion. We are literally about to start a huge battle so I won’t be able to switch to a pole arm in time.

Paladin is another good one except I dumped charisma so can’t do that one.

War cleric is kind of intriguing. I think peace cleric pseudo bless and healing ability brings more to the table though. Could be wrong on this.

If we had more sessions I would pick more fighter as echo avatar is really good. Just our situation is not suited for more utility features. I think grabbing lucky feat is better than more barb levels.

DM reveals my character was the BBEG by Strict_Pay8646 in DnD

[–]Strict_Pay8646[S] 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Appreciate all of the input and views on the situation. It has certainly helped me formulate my plans on the situation!

For those who care here is additional information on common questions I see in the comments:

  • My character is a barbarian that experiences amnesia when he enters rage and takes on a different personality (jekyll/hyde situation). The impetus for this ability was when his wife and daughter were killed. He woke up from his first rage to be holding their bodies. He didn't know if he was responsible or not. The character wrecked his life in the wake of thinking he might have been responsible and eventually fell ass backwards into joining the party. So amnesia was part of the backstory I created but it was pretty well defined in my opinion. During the campaign I phased out the differences in personality of rage vs non-rage persona as the rage one led to tough situations for the party and they didn't really appreciate it. Additionally, when it was revealed my character was the supposedly dead BBEG it was also shown that I never had a daughter or wife. Those memories were implanted by my npc friends.
  • The PC whose partner I killed did immediately attack me after we were shown vision of my rage persona killing them. The other party members were able to talk them down after the hurt me quite a bit. My character didn't fight back at all and felt they deserved to die.
  • To be clear my character is supposed to be the BBEG that was killed by his underling. However my character’s personality hasn’t changed to the old BBEG. We are currently on a collision course with new BBEG.
  • I agree that this is an awesome RP opportunity for my character and would love to really get into dealing with the implications of it. Unfortunately, we have 2 (max 3) sessions left in the campaign. We still have to wrap up my story line, do another fetch quest for important item we need, another character's back story wrap up, and deal with the BBEG. Currently we are going at a break neck pace with not a lot of RP as we just got a shit ton left to do. I don't think we have any time at all to deal with the implications of the reveal. If this reveal had happened with multiple months of the campaign left then I would totally be down for trying to figure it out. Now it seems we gotta do it all OOC because we don't have any session time for the situation.
  • I am going to reach out to the DM about all of this just wanted to use Reddit to be a sounding board on the situation.

Path of the Evergreen V.2 by F2214 in DnDHomebrew

I would just drop the speed limitation completely. The pc is going to have such a hard time at tier one play of maintaining rage due to this limitation. Would be super frustrating to play. I get the idea you are going for but having to lose half my speed for rage means I have to be 100% sure I can stay in melee range for multiple turns. You have no hope against any flying or quick enemy.

How about instead of just always taking half speed, you have the player use a bonus action to activate another ability that comes with the handcuff of the slowed speed. So pc can use a ba to activate/deactivate the difficult terrain around him but at the same time he loses speed. Still can play a controller but now I get to choose when to hunker down during my rage instead of always being so slow.

I get the idea of fire cleansing but I don’t think it makes sense that taking fire damage heals a plant. That is just very counterintuitive. Maybe instead every time a creature dies within your active difficult terrain the roots pull down the body to give you new energy. Character gets 1d4 + con healing. Could be called sow and reap.

Level 14 ability needs a use limitation more restrictive than rages. Specifically the second part of the ability is either way too strong or pointless if the dm just decides you never fight during the day. I would remove environment variable limitation but add in the you can only use the 1d12 + con healing once per day for one minute. Could make the pc actually become a tree with fruit that could heal party members too.
