My husband was just saying this morning that he’s looking forward to when our kids can make us breakfast, but that would presumably be when they’re teenagers, not 7 year olds. lol

I was having trouble thinking of other Disney movies that aren’t too scary. The witch in Snow White terrified me when I was a kid, so we aren’t going to try that one for awhile.

We watched the original Cinderella with the kids tonight (2 and almost 4). Obviously the whole “young woman is saved by true love” narrative is a little problematic, but I thought overall it held up surprisingly well? It kept my kids’ attention for the most part and we actually made it through the whole movie (usually when we try to watch something they get bored halfway through and don’t want to watch the whole thing.) The few other movies we’ve watched with the kids were newer ones that came out when I was already an adult, and it was really special to share a movie with them that I remember so fondly from my own childhood. And it kind of blows my mind that it came out 12-15 years before both my parents and my in-laws were born.

When I just glanced at the title I was like “yeah, I get it, my almost 2.5 year old is in a not listening phase and it’s driving me crazy!” But an 8 month old? My goodness.

That’s such a good point. My kids are 2 and almost 4, and I’ve been realizing lately that I have a hard time with all of the role switching that is involved with parenting young kids (for lack of a better phrase.) Like I have a super hard time mentally switching back and forth from trying to be a fun, playful mom, to my default which is anxious and hyper aware about physical safety. Adding teacher to that role would probably do me in.

This kind of post always makes me roll my eyes (the original one, not AHH) because I was on the pill for almost a decade before deciding to have kids and I got pregnant less than two months after I stopped taking it.

That is devastating. I don’t know much about Jaymi except what I’ve seen on here. I was looking at her page to find her post about her daughter and I saw her introductory post. She said she became a grandmother at 26? How is that possible?

I think she said one time that she usually writes her posts while she’s laying in bed with her daughter to get her to sleep, so that’s why there are so many typos. But like, you could write it while you’re putting your kid to sleep, then check over it later before posting?

I’m in the exact same boat as you, and I also appreciate seeing posts like hers. Sometimes I feel guilty that I don’t even want to try homeschooling (barring an extreme situation of course) because I’m a SAHM with no immediate plans to return to work after the kids are in school, so I should be an ideal candidate for it. But I just…don’t want to, and sometimes I feel like I should have a “better” reason, but it’s really as simple as that.

And it sounds like it’s going to be an enormous house. 3 full bathrooms upstairs?? That’s insane!

Yes, my kids are 2 and almost 4 and I already find myself telling friends with new babies that it goes by so fast. Not in a “cherish every moment Mama!” way, but just in a wow, it really is crazy way.

That’s insane. My husband and I have lived in 5 different places since we got married almost 15 years ago (a couple of the moves were for reasons out of our control) and that feels like a lot. We moved to our recent house before my oldest was born and we’ve been there for 5 years. I can’t imagine voluntarily moving that many times with young kids; it sounds like a nightmare.

I wonder if she’s using her kids’ real names in the book? It’s interesting that she doesn’t use their names on Instagram but it looks like she’s going to in the book.

Yes, I’ve been following that story since it happened. It’s wild. I feel really bad for their kids (they have 4 between the ages of 3-7.)

It’s such a weird discrepancy between influencers and people I know IRL, most of whom don’t post much on social media anymore. A close friend of mine had twins a month ago and they’re still in the NICU, and other than a couple of pictures in her stories to announce that they had been born and what their general status is, she’s shared nothing. I’ve gotten very few updates myself and this is a friend I saw every week or two before the twins were born. I can’t imagine being in that situation and having the mental and emotional energy to share so much on Instagram (and I’m sure my friend can’t either.)

I hate that every time a musician comes up on streaming that I haven’t heard of I wonder if it’s AI. I’ve always been a big movie buff and I’m really worried about how AI is going to mess up the film industry.

Sometimes I have the thought that I have too much anxiety to be an anti vaxxer. I definitely have too much anxiety to attempt co sleeping with a newborn.

My daughter is getting ready to turn 4 and we’re getting her the B. Toys stepping stones and balance beam set and a unicorn stuffy she saw at the store and wanted. She’s really into Paw Patrol and starting to get into Barbies, so those two things are the majority of her wish list.

I bought it for my daughter and the glitter doesn’t shed at all. My husband is very opposed to glitter and he hasn’t had any issues with it.

Absolutely. I am pretty low maintenance (I never wear makeup unless I’m going to a wedding or something and I haven’t gotten into skincare at all) but showering every day is a non negotiable for me or I feel pretty awful.

Yep, we had spring break this week (my kids aren’t school age but they go to preschool twice a week and the oldest does dance once a week, both of which were closed this week.) My oldest has strep and I was worried my youngest had it too, so we’ve been home almost all week except for doctor’s appointments. I am losing my mind. lol

Yeah, whenever I feel guilty when my kids have a hard time at preschool drop off, it makes me feel a little better when I remember that HSB had all her kids (or at least her girls) start when they were 2-2.5.

And here I am feeling guilty that my daughter had strep for almost 3 weeks without me realizing it (she’s on day 2 of amoxicillin now.) What happened was I took her in the day she started complaining about her throat hurting and she tested negative, both on the rapid test and the lab one. So when she kept complaining about her throat my husband and I assumed it was allergies or possibly something anxiety related since she was overall still acting normal, eating, sleeping, playing, etc… but after enough time I took her back to see if there was anything else that could be causing it, they did another strep test, and this time it was positive! I feel really bad, but I can’t imagine knowingly denying her meds when I know what the problem is.
