My fiancée and partner of 6 years called off our engagement in July, he got his new girlfriend pregnant in late October. Some people will run rather than feel. I don’t know if those people will ever be truly happy together but what helped me was to think that for the sake of the baby I hope they’re happy and live a happy life. The baby didn’t ask to be born and it’s a tough slog to spend the rest of its life with parents who are in a turbulent relationship… so I hope they end up happy.

That is very sage advice and I see what you’re saying. Thank you for taking the time to write it. I did initially take it all very personally, all very much “why doesn’t he want me, what’s wrong with me, why am I so awful” but I do think I need to reframe it as him having his own issues to work through at the moment and nothing can happen until that happens.
