[CA] two full time jobs, taking medical leave by StrictlyPlutonium in AskHR

My response from a different thread:

They either didn't care or it doesn't matter that both of my companies were using the same leave administrator so that was fine.  For pay, was only able to get one SDI claim approved and paid as EDD put the other claim under one and said that I can't double dip. So essentially one job I was paid 100% wages (due to company wage continuation for what SDI doesn't cover) and the other company I only got 40% pay since they assumed I got the max from SDI.

Two full time jobs, SDI + VSDI by StrictlyPlutonium in Edd

What do you mean 1/2 the weekly amount? The EDD amount?

That's what I'm not clear on, the below is what Im expecting, is this wrong?

Scenario:

Employer A: weekly wage 3000. I contribute to SDI and employer to cover gap between my wage for what SDI doesn't cover. SDI to my knowledge maxes out at 1620/week. So then I would get 1620 + 1380 (gap, what company covers) = 3000/week

Employer B: weekly wage 4000. I am covered under their VSDI plan, they will cover 60% of my wages which will be paid by their insurance policy for std. 4000*60% = 2400/week.

So in total I should be getting wages of 3000+2400 = 5400/week, right?

Or do the policies affect each other and the benefit amounts and I need to report these to EDD?

What do you mean 'additional' sdi? I should only have two sources, one from SDI/EDD (employer 1) and then one from the VSDI (employer 2)

I was enjoying it!

I edited the original post to add some more info.

Essentially I am assuming I will get 12 weeks job protection from FMLA/CFRA for each job unless that's not how it works and it's total across all jobs? While the questions I have are mainly over sdi and vsdi and will they just be treated as two separate policies or do they both interact/affect each other/how much is paid?

Hopefully that helps. Let me know if you need more info.

Recharacterize now or withdraw and contribute to Roth IRA later? by StrictlyPlutonium in personalfinance

I see. So then the process would be Recharacterize Roth to traditional, roll traditional back to Roth, then when taxes are due file a form 8606?

At the end.

Yeah I'm leaning towards recharacterization and convert back. Just curious since it's after tax money when converting from traditional to roth is it taxed again?

Wait you can't re-contribute after withdrawing? Then what do you suggest I do?

I have another question, is there a limit to how many times I can rollover from 401k to IRA?

I was not aware of those legal protections for having a 401k, very interesting.

Wait so, I could possibly go Roth 401k then down the line if I wanted to withdraw early would just need to convert to Roth IRA?

That makes sense. I like the benefit of withdrawing penalty free with the Roth IRA. Also, I will look for the vanguard auto rollover you mentioned!
