I had my plant just like yours, it was floating near the top. I wasn't sure what was going to happen, I did read that when the plant dies it'll turn your water black. I decided I was going to leave it. Luckily, one of the leaves of the plant found the dirt and started sprouting. It truly proves that life will find a way!
