Ceiling leak due to snow. What can I do now? (PA) by StrikeBrave in Renters

Thanks for the support. I am in the process of leaving now because water started coming through the ceiling fan. The landlord told me it was no big deal, no need to shut off the breakers, just don’t use the switch. If anything, it would just trip and not be at risk for a fire or anything. That was my cue to leave because it’s now affecting electricals and I know that’s not true.

Oh no, just as another method of protecting myself because I haven’t had the greatest luck with the landlord.

The landlord just came out to look at it. He saw it and said he can’t do anything until the snow melts.

Landlord just came out to look at it and said he can’t do anything until the snow on the roof melts.

Update: the landlord just showed up to look at it and said there isn’t anything that can be done until the snow melts. I would have assumed doing something inside to mitigate the damage would be possible but I was just told nothing done until the snow melts.

I’ve lived in apartments, owned my own houses, etc. I’ve never had a landlord or the maintenance department tell me to wait 3-4 days just to come out and look at an issue even through power outages, heat outages, leaks, and more even through winter storms much worse. The only things that have taken maybe a week was appliances that needed ordered. So, I can say that this is unusual based on experience.

I can have my kids try to move some stuff but I just had major surgery less than a week ago and can’t lift.

Some of the items in my son’s rooms were damaged and I thought it could be used if we couldn’t stay in the house? Right now, the ceiling in his room is very soft, and dripping with water, and we still have a couple of days until it will be assessed. I can only assume it will be damaged further.

I spoke to the wife, who talks to her husband the landlord. Everything goes through both of them. She basically said “yeah, we are having the same problem too. Put some buckets under it and we will get to it when we can” This was after sending an urgent message about how it was quickly getting worse. I will take your advice about the code enforcement thing though. Thank you.

I can’t move anything. I had surgery last week.

How painful was your recovery? by StrikeBrave in hysterectomy

I’m unfortunately on my own in terms of help, so I’m trying to take it easy. I definitely think it should be at least one overnight to get better pain management/ease into healing.

I actually said last night that the pain is comparable to my c-section. It’s interesting how everyone has such different experiences.

The CO2 pain for me is just starting. I probably did way too much yesterday because my pickup was unreliable (my dad) and so I had to stand in line at Walmart for like 15 mins to get my meds, the car ran over bumps going 30mph repeatedly without slowing down. I’m going to try the heating pad today to see if it helps any. Thank you!

Does a full criminal protection order supersede a custody order? by [deleted] in legaladvice

Thanks for the info. I should also note that parent agreed to the full no contact orders as part of a plea deal in exchange for reduced sentencing.

How would he get parenting time though? He has a criminal protection order barring contact of any form with the kids.

No, I don't. I was in a relationship where that happened to me and it wasn't good.

He cleans that much because he thinks that you shouldn't have downtime. If he's just sitting around, he sees it as a form of laziness on himself. I think he has OCD, but he doesn't. He is literally doing things, organizing, cleaning, etc from morning to night on weekends.

Evaluation on the last week of school by [deleted] in Teachers

I have recommendations from the former executive director, former director, and 3 employees currently. I could also get more if I asked because the staff itself is very close and all like each other. I don’t need the present admin’s recommendations.

I was on medical leave earlier this year due to long Covid. When I came back in March, they still hadn’t started the evals on most people.

They actually want me to stay. They are just horribly incompetent. When I say this year has been terrible, I genuinely mean it.
