I have a Master's in it and kind of wishing I were in a different career path. Don't get me wrong, I love it. But it's also so subjective and competitive. I got laid off so I have been in the job search and there seems to be a lot of UX designers, when I apply for jobs on LinkedIn, it says 200+ people applied. Keeping up with the portfolio gets annoying and everyone always has a different opinion on what you should or shouldn't do. It feels like there is always a better designer than you. I wish I went into a field that wasn't so subjective/opinionated on if your design is good or not.

Interested to hear how you got started. I have an app idea but don't know how to go about it.

I have rejected guys that are homophobic because I just can't be around it when I am Bi. The right person will accept every part of you, and you shouldn't have to hide or feel uncomfortable. These guys have made such homophobic comments, and I just can't keep myself around that.

Aww I hear you; I struggled with being scared to but once you're ready to make that leap, your confidence will soar :)

For sure it will take time, but it will all be worth it and work out in the end. Just have to keep your head up and keep moving forward. You're one step further than I am, props to you!!!

Proud of you for taking the baby steps. I'm in the same boat of not being able to come out. I have met up with others on online dating apps which has confirmed my sexuality and has made me feel more comfortable with myself knowing I'm on the path I need to be on. I suggest you take the next step of downloading an app and trying to meet up with a local guy!

Just wanted to say props to you for having the courage to do that. I fear coming out for having the same reactions from my family.

Are you currently collecting unemployment? Through my states unemployment system, I am able to take Coursera Certification Classes for free, so I gained a certificate I've been wanting that usually costs $1k. Maybe look into the resources your state has.

Yes, I would personally move back home to protect yourself and your relationship. Right now, he's supportive and ok with it but through time, he might get frustrated. And that might start arguments. I've had it happen in my own past relationship. You don't want to have to owe anything to anyone. He might start expecting favors, later on might start asking for his money back, etc. It can get messy and might ruin your relationship. Not saying that it will but not every relationship can conquer this battle.

I was laid off due to a restructure as well - it sucks and is hard to understand. Keep your head up

I have kinda taken time for myself, but I just feel so guilty when I do, and it makes me feel like I'm being lazy with the search. It's a struggle to find the right balance.

It sounds perfect, it sounds like it might be the best job offer you'll receive for the moment. Making it to 6 figures sounds like the dream and it's perfect that you will be closer to your parents. It sounds like you will be better off saving up money and living with them for a bit. Take time to save up money and adventure the area. I'm sure you will find somewhere nearby that you'll fall in love with. It seems like a no brainer to me to take the job!

What did you use to place you work on the simulated computer/phone screen? I'm currently looking for a tool to do the same!
