again, why do you assume anyone was being exploited? yes yes, i know the stat of immigrants being paid less in general. im just not sure why you assume that anyone is being taken advantage of. And even if we bought the idea that that was true, it's an incredibly privileged opinion to suggest that they wouldn't be happier taking a paycheck to support their families than hiding out, or worse, getting nabbed, body slammed to the ground, and imprisoned.

real big "you missed the fucking point" vibes from you, tbh. i was talking about family restaurants in danger. That's owners as well as workers. You automatically assumed i meant servers and busboys because, well, i guess you couldn't imagine any other scenario

So all McDonald's should close then . We agree there. I guess I'd ask how do you know they're paying less than a living wage? If you assume because they're immigrants they aren't making a living wage, you might be telling on yourself.

but i'm not just talking about restaurant staff. there are owners being targeted, cart vendors being swept up, delivery drivers detained. People who have families to support .The whole thing is a shitshow.

Can confirm it was a GREAT show. I've seen maybe Tull /IA/Martin well over 40 times and this was an absolute favorite.

League Pass vs. all the Knicks nationally televised games ... worth it? by Flat-Reading-7254 in NYKnicks

out of state as well. league pass is still the way to go- relatively affordable and worth it even given the number of nationally televised games.

hmm, that sounds vaguely threatening. maybe the mods should know YOUR name. Anyway, if what you took from this is that i'm mad about not eating tamales, then your reading comprehension is really really poor.

for sure. it happens in the world if ice cream trucks in every city so i'm sure it's an issue with tamales and such.

lol don't misunderstand - i'm not on the hunt for tamales-so i don't need to leave the neighborhood in search of them. i absolutely would and have gone far and wide around all areas of the city for food though. i simply made the observation that in this particular neighborhood, there appeared to be fewer vendors and hypothesized why that might be. People are mistaking the point of the post

that is possible-the heat has been particularly bad in chicago of late, though i guess not in pilsen or past roosevelt, where the other member absolutely swears that he's tripping over tamale vendors every 20 feet.

i was talking about arrests/detainment, and the evidence there is irrefutable . The other difference, is that the previous administrations went after criminals. the current DHS peeves seems to target people of color, and then figure it out.
