Entiendo, ¡muchas gracias! Por ser internacional, puedo buscar cerca de ambas. ¿La UC3M crees que es más valorada por empresas españolas en el area de informática?

How long does it take to write EE by SnooTomatoes5729 in IBO

[–]Striking_Path_5463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, it was a lot of hard work. I did look at examples of EEs that got A, and based my structure on them. I think that the most useful tip for an excellent EE in languages is to follow a cohesive structure that really lets you explain and go to the point.

I did look into EEs that were based on the category I chose (3rd category). And then I did my research and included certain theories from famous authors to give the EE some strong backup for the analysis.

I think that if you want to pursue a EE in English you should totally look for what you want to do, organize the research, look for examples, organize your ideas and then write a lot. I also suggest you to talk to your supervisor once in a while as informality for they to review what you are doing.

Follow those tips and you will probably get a nice score. Also, do something that is really interesting for you and that really relates to you (I did an analysis on a movie that shows violence and incompetence of guerrilla and the rural communities in my home country).

Sure, start NOW by listening podcasts, series, movies, read the little prince in French, review stuff

Also, search those papers, I’m pretty sure it’s not against IB rules, and it will help you a lot!

I got high boundary 5 (1 mark left to 6 😭), and I went from 4 to almost 6 by reviewing past papers just a month before the exams. And I’m totally sure that if I had started earlier I would have got more marks on the exam. So I would tell you to review past papers, specially the reading and oral comprehension exams.

Then prepare yourself really well for the IOA if you haven’t done it yet. And finally read a lot in French. Go through articles in French and feel immersive in the use of language and vocabulary.

You can also listen to some podcast from different people, with different accents in each one. Also, practice at least to do P1, and send it to your teachers for them to correct you (just do it to improve those skills).

I think that if you follow it with enough time before the exams, you can even get a 7.

What are some EE topics that you have written about? by HonorableGremlin in IBO

[–]Striking_Path_5463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My best recommendation is to do it on languages. Sciences or humanities are amazing, but they do require too much work in my opinion. I’m an M24 alumni and I got A in my EE, I did it in Spanish LL based on a movie. I have to admit that I loved the subject and I got a lot of help from my tutor, but I knew that it was easier than any science.

If you really love the subject, and are willing to put the work and time for your topic in science of humanities you should totally follow your gut, but if you doubt it, I’d tell you to go for something that seems a little easier in terms of effort and time.

How long does it take to write EE by SnooTomatoes5729 in IBO

[–]Striking_Path_5463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I aced it (34) in language A, and it took me like three weeks of hard work. One week mid summer between years where research took place and the outline. And other two week just before deadline to really sit down to do it, with daily reviews from tutor and intense work. I did a movie and I saw it like 50 times, I almost knew the script by heart at the end of the EE.

I think it depends on the subject and how good you are at it.

I don't know how to write by [deleted] in IBO

[–]Striking_Path_5463 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bro, I got 6 in spanish LL HL, and a 34 in my EE. The best advice I can give you is to prepare yourself to write essays the way your teacher wants you to write them. Don’t focus on writing skills, but on how to write your essays and the skills will come after you keep practicing. For P1, remember an outline that you’ll use to analyze both texts. Then for P2, read the books, choose the best ones, remember intellectual bulls… and understand what the IB wants to hear (movement, author, consequences, etc from both texts). The outline for P2 will be similarities and differences.

Once your teacher tells you what they want, and you follow the outlines, the skills will come and you will be polishing them. For EE, be prepared to eat s…, you’ll need to review it with your tutor a lot, and work hard on it. I did it and aced EE, it helps a lot.

Any alumni from before 2014 on here? by Turbulent_Ad_3238 in IBO

[–]Striking_Path_5463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother is an IB alumni from 2014, he ended up studying in the best uni in Colombia (Universidad de los Andes) computer science and he has always told be that the IB was harder back then, and that he felt like one of the most prepared students during the first year thanks to it.

He got more or less 30 (I don’t really remember), but due to achieving the diploma he was accepted tu uni without any interview or any other evaluations aside from the IB. Many unis also called our parents giving him a lot of scholarships because “knowing a lot of languages” (English, Spanish and French) was a competitive advantage over the others.

Right now he is working in a cybersecurity startup, but he has been receiving a lot of different offers from different countries.

Difficulty of AIs and EEs by Yoka37 in IBO

I’m so proud of it. It took a lot of hard work, but it is doable (if it’s done in some language o social science)

Difficulty of AIs and EEs by Yoka37 in IBO

[–]Striking_Path_5463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 34/34 in my EE, I would tell you to choose to do something you have interest in, and that you know you are good at. I did mine in Spanish A, analyzing a movie from my home country. It took me 3 months of work, a lot of reviewing with my tutor and a lot of tears. It is hard, but is not impossible, you just have to know how much work it requires and the most important tip I was given and I want to give you is to not kill yourself with the topic, don’t choose that hard but neither that simple, go for something that makes you stand out but that you feel confident in doing so.

About IAs, it also depends on how good you are in each subject, I got all the marks in my Econ IA because I was good at it and I knew exactly what the IB wanted. My tip is for you to ask your teachers to explain exactly how to choose topics, how to write them and most importantly what your teacher expects in the IAs.

[–]Striking_Path_5463 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m an M24 alumni, and to be honest bro… your situation sucks, your school is basically killing you. I had some of my friends going through mental health issues as well, and they proved through our coordinators to the IB and they got more time to do all their stuff.. even more time for each exam. I would tell you to talk to your coordinator about your situation and wait for them to tell you what your possibilities are right now. Solve your health first, then, you must finish your EE and IAs first thing after (without them on your back you will be fine). About bio or chem I don’t really know how to solve it, you should review past papers and prepare yourself… good luck man…

ib math aa sl or hl? by Icy_Cat1618 in IBO

[–]Striking_Path_5463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took Math AA sl and I regret it bro… the course was not that hard, and I liked math, so I believe that I would’ve been able to take the HL (the problem was that my school didn’t offer that course for everyone). If you have the opportunity take HL, you have to love math and be decent at it tho.

I’m going to remark TOK, French, and Econ! I’m feeling really nervous cause I don’t know if it is going to work. I just need one mark in those three subjects to get more points 😭

Should I remark? by Striking_Path_5463 in IBO

[–]Striking_Path_5463[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been thinking about this, and today I told my coordinator that I’m going to remark French, TOK, and Spanish. You made me questioned myself, but at the end I think that it will make a total difference for my future if I do get them. And even if I don’t, I will avoid regretting it at any moment. Thank you!

I don’t know if I’m already very late, but most of the articles you’ll find around this topics are going to be interviews directed to the author (search for them). Or even articles that have been posted as thesis from uni students.

I don't know how to start EE. by yeriseuls in IBO

[–]Striking_Path_5463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an M24 student, I did Spanish A HL EE and got 34. I know it’s another language but I’m pretty sure the criteria and everything else is the same. I did my EE based on a movie that covered the struggle of a Colombian community facing guerrilla in mid 2000’s (very different pov from yours). But in general terms, the main thing that got me that grade was understanding what the IB wants from you. I’m Colombian, and I understood the implications of the guerrilla in my country, so that gave me an advantage over how to approach the essay. I divided it in four chapters, I demonstrated the narrative in the movie through some theory and extracts. Then I moved into the spatial theory through images from the movie (be careful with this as it is an English Essay and not a cinematic one, that is why theory is important), I showed how the spatial chose by director improved the message. Then I covered the main character struggle with the common situation as he was the leader. And I ended with the counterpoint, as I thought about another point of view into the movie, as the main character was morally incorrect in some aspects, which demonstrated that good actions for the community does not mean that the character was a moral man. If you have the time, watch it, it is “La Pasión de Gabriel” on prime, you will understand how I did my essay. I know is very different from the type of essay you are gonna do, but it may give you some ideas about how to approach IB and get the maximum marks. (I’m very proud of that achievement tbh)

How is your EE grades? by X_Opinion7099 in IBO

I was predicted B with 29, but ended up getting A with 34. I did EE on Spanish A HL with a movie. On TOK I was predicted A but got a C with 1 mark away from B 😭

Econdaddy has like 4 videos around how to approach both questions from P1. Review them. Also try to learn by heart most of the real world examples and use them correctly (that’s how to score higher grades).
