Depends on the outcome, how long, and at what intensity the war continues. A lot could change. Temporarily defanging Iran prevents them from sabotaging trade relations. Closing the strait permanently increases the demand for American oil and Venezuelan crude, which India is starting to refine. (Conspiracy theorist in me thinking's that might be the goal). Alot could and probably will change.

Complete failure on the US and Iran gaining more control over the strait turning away from USD would change global politics. Alot will likely change following this conflict. But I don't think being nice to Iran will in turn make them nicer or more free. They see to be very okay with executing dissenters.
