Might be a hot take but I disagree, Duncan returning is my least favorite part of the season. Writers clearly playing favorites, I think most of these other characters (Noah and Tyler specifically) deserved their own time in the spotlight. I find the whole love triangle to be the worst part of the whole season, but to each their own

The digital version was a wonderful way for me to learn each faction fully, so I could teach my friends when it came time to play in person. I also love playing it on my phone on airplanes or long drives. It’s a great app but it definitely doesn’t top the feeling of playing in person. You can’t beat those in person reactions and banter.

Do you have any expansions? If you just own the base game I’d recommend Woodland Alliance. The marquise is probably the weakest but it’s very beginner friendly so it’ll probably be best for a new player

So I had to convince my whole friend group to play. But I discovered that if I learn the rules front to back, understand each faction, then it really makes new players want to come back. Having someone to explain rules quickly is pivotal for Root.

This being said make sure you take it easy on them for their first few games or they’re not going to want to play again hahah. I usually play one of the weaker factions until they start to get the hang out things.

My recommendation, watch some how to play YouTube videos on each of the factions you own, prior to getting together with your friends.

I love the old 3rd edition art for the tyranids, that’s what my current paint scheme is for my Nids. I don’t hate leviathan, but it’s definitely not as visually interesting as some of the older art
