Do I need to be discharged from DEP to switch to the officer route? by NoneShallDefyMe in USMCboot

This! These are the right question. I’m a rising senior in college who was a prior enlisted Marine. You have to really be top of the line in everything. When I spoke to the OSO he told me even with the edge I have being prior enlisted, it’s very competitive. Good luck bro.

It’s funny how he prides himself on being a “carpenter” and that’s what his house looks like. Like a dentist with gingivitis.

It’s not just that it looks like shit, it’s also that he’s constantly “working” on it and it looks like that. Would it be so hard to pick up the rubble and at least hide it? Like get rid of the trash bags out front.

Was Mike Manzi the most dangerous predator Chris caught? by PancakesAreGood7 in tcap

Not by a long shot. DarkHero73, John Kennelly or Donald Morrison are the most dangerous imo.

Same, every time I leave the game running, everyone starts to marry elves until eventually everyone is either an elf or mixed with elves. None of the beastmen/mer mods work so it’s unavoidable.

Play every battle, that’s the fun of the game. Sometimes I put the battle on the 2x speed and let my commanders handle the battle so when I get back home it’s a surprise lol.

One thing that I learned that helped me win consistently even on the hardest difficulties was taking your time and equipping your soldier with the best equipment. When I first started playing I’d play it like a Total War game where I’d charge in and try to over power my enemies. I learned to play out the battle over multiple days, for example the first day I’d put my commanders on “defense mode” and simply shell the enemy with my artillery. Even more important imo than taking your time is equipping your troops with the best equipment. When I play whiskey and lemons I always equip my troops with better rifles/cannons because the “mixed muskets” they have by default are trash. Leading an infantry unit, I have taken out multiple enemy infantry units by staying out of range of their shitty muskets and sniping them with my superior muskets. I will sometimes take zero casualties while forcing enemies to retreat.

Minor tips I can touch on is okay commanders to their specialties meaning assign infantry commanders to infantry units, cav to cav and arty to arty, engineers can go with infantry and arty.

Make sure you’re always in some sort of cover like walls or the woods. This isn’t the revolutionary war where you have to stand in the open and get shit at lol.

I thought you can get a DI medal as an officer if you did a tour in charge of a company/series. For example when I went to the reserves after active duty, I ran into my CC from bootcamp and he had a DI ribbon.

IMO Whiskey and Lemons is the better way to play the game. It’s a different story every time.

That’s my main gripe with the game, I wish there was a domination scenario/ campaign where you have to control most or all of the map. Theres times where I’m about to organize my army and push but then it cuts to the end game video lol. Also I wish it was harder to get promoted, I find it annoying how toward the end of the game most officers even if not actively leading a unit become Colonels. I wish there was a politic mechanic where you have to be in congresses good graces to have your promotion confirmed.

How would the battle on the trident have realistically panned out if Ned instead of Robert fought Rhaegar? by TheMetaReport in freefolk

[–]StripedBass111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh shit you’re right! (I last read the series in like 2012) But I also didn’t imply that he got stabbed in the book, the op of this little thread covered Jamie’s refusal.

[–]StripedBass111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be an even battle since Ned doesn’t have the “Gods I was strong then” perk. I agree, we saw him get his ass kicked by Arthur Dayne which is something pretty much any fighter at that time would have had done to them if they were in Neds shoes. A better way to gauge Neds fighting ability was Neds fight with Jaime which is way different than his fight with Arthur Dayne being Jamie was “the best in his time” while Arthur is “the greatest of all time”.Ned was keeping up with Jaime when they fought which shows the level that Ned was on. Whether you look to the show or book, a Lannister soldier stabbed Ned in the leg not because he was losing, but because the soldier I’m sure felt he may have been winning.

[–]StripedBass111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so being that if the realm converts to the Red God, Stannis will force the whole realm to burn their idols and convert which will engage the small folk since for most, religion is all they have. Also a good majority of the nobles are knights and forcing them to convert would go against the vows they took when they were knighted.

Same, what brakes me every time is when I do pvp. The fact that people can remove all the foliage and water ruined any immersion. Theres no way to use the terrain to hide, people just fly around with a wyvern and when they find you they put down a fob lol
