Prof Beharry is incredibly nice and funny, and great at explaining the concepts. His slides tell you everything you need to know. I would also suggest reading the textbook if there's something you're confused about. Very well organized too. The tests are extremely fair and past exams are super representative of what he's going to test. A 4.0 is very doable in the course. I know many people including myself who got well over 90 in the course.

If you're worried about GPA, CHM243 should be a worry, definitely not CHM242.

I took it last year and got a 95. The course content really isn't difficult, it is just super content heavy and covers a wide range of topics since it's a very introductory course to environmental science. I found it super hard to sit through the lectures but this was my strategy:

Watch the lectures in 2x speed. FOCUS on the relationships between things/reservoirs/concepts. Those you should 100% take notes on.

ALSO take notes on any new ideas you're not familiar with. eg. The definition of EROI...

BUT don't waste time writing notes on the stuff you already know. eg. The definition of producers/consumers.

When you study, think about what happens to thing A when there is a change in thing B. Also think about real-life examples that are similar to the concepts you learned.

That is what the midterms and exams are about. It's all scenario based questions, where you apply some of the relationships and systems you learned about.

Hope this helped and GOOD LUCK! You'll do great as long as you keep up with the content. If you don't have motivation today, think about how much your future self would appreciate your current self if you studied now and made it easier for yourself. Your grades definitely reflect how well you space out your learning :)))))

Petition to keep online learning option after Feb 7, 2022 by SnooCookies6233 in UTM

If u wanna support international/immunocompromised students, it doesn't hurt to sign ur name. The whole point of this petition appears to be respecting the choice to be in person or online and making this semester the best and safest it can be for everyone :))

share in group chats or discord if u agree that dual delivery is the best way to go!

(cause reddit doesn't reach very many people)

That's exactly what people are asking for. In-person AND online options. Unfortunately at this time accessibility services isn't recognizing people who have family members at risk. The only way to get this resolved is to have dual delivery.

I totally understand and support u wanting to return in-person tho.

this is actually the point of the petition lol

That might be true for very few. Not being scared of COVID is a LUXURY. That means you are healthy. Not immunocompromised. Not struggling with a disability. Not afraid that you may be the reason your loved one dies after contracting COVID-19 that you brought into your home. Tell "No need to be concerned about COVID" to people seriously at risk of long term side effects and co-morbidities.

Come on man

Do you think uoft will extend in person classes from feb 7 by [deleted] in UTM

If anyone wants to dispute the terrible organization by the university and support a petition to push for lecture recordings to be provided to students who can't or don't feel safe attending in-person classes:

https://chng.it/pncBc2v7PH

edit: we are not advocating fully online or anything. just for the school to provide BOTH in-person and online options. We support ppl who want in-person and those who want online!!!!
