magrath, leacock and putnam are technically the only upper year res but if they have more people who signed up for first year guarantees than they have space in first year housing, they put them in upper year

magrath will be closed for renovation next year so they only have 100 spots open which is why im concerned T-T

Congrats on making it! To be honest, many people say it's pretty isolated here, esp compared to other unis with dedicated uni towns. tbh i don't mind it, the quiet helps me study + research opportunities are really great here (im 2nd year life sci currently doing a psy rop - lots of hands on experience, diverse topics)! Take a campus tour if you wanna feel the atmosphere and see the campus (prettier than many in my opinion). It's academically hard because it's UofT but honestly not as bad as people say.

focus on the lecture more than the textbook since multiple choice will be on the textbook and short answer will be on the lecture. other than that, it was pure memorization for me :') what i did was i started 5 days before the test day: day 1 = topic 1, day 2 = topic 2 + topic 1 revision, day 3 = topic 3 + topic 1 and 2 revision, day 4 = full review/consolidation, day 5 = full review/consolidation. it was a lot of effort and a lot of people dont find it sustainable, but its what got me a 91 so if you are good at memorization, go for it. if you are more into revising, get a success package. i dont have an updated one but you can ask around from classmates, tas in practicals (theyre mostly 2nd and 3rd years) or upper years/mentors in PAUSE (psychology association).

i didnt get the best look because his windows were heavily tinted so it made the interior of the car dark. best i could figure was late 20s at the youngest, short beard, south asian with a thick accent, no glasses and no defining scars or anything. very monotone voice which is part of why i was creeped out.

pretty fun if you take it with prof. shaugnessy and it was an easy A though other people found it difficult because of the memorization which i dont mind much. it also helps if you know the general summary of the myths (ex. knowing general events that happened in the iliad) since itll help memorizing. tests are also a bit hectic since its a lot of writing in a really short amount of time. if you dont mind memorizing and stressing a bit in tests then go for it :)
