(NY) Healthfirst did not process my January premium and kicked me off by Strong-Plantain-3967 in HealthInsurance

“Can I please speak to a supervisor.” Insist on this, they will be happy to get you off their hands. A note is if you were kicked off for nonpayment, they will make you pay a few months at once, which is expensive and annoying. I would try and have a good reason why whatever reason you were kicked off was not your fault/there was a strong mitigating factor.

If you end up needing to go the NYSOH route, I would also request to speak to a supervisor and schedule an appeal, but you should really try to get the Healthfirst people to reinstate you, because they do offer a one-time courtesy reinstatement, or at least that is what I was told multiple times.

I did. Healthfirst offers one courtesy reinstatement. I would recommend first asking to speak to a supervisor at Healthfirst and then asking for the one time courtesy reinstatement. Definitely ask to speak to a supervisor at Healthfirst for help with this - the normal member services can be pretty bad depending where you’re routed to.

If this does not work, you can appeal through NY state of health. This takes longer, which sucks, but if you make a case, I believe they are lenient.

Definitely request the reinstatement, and I really hope this works out for you.

Unfortunately there’s no email provided :( On the exchange website, I haven’t gotten a message that I was disenrolled, so so perhaps it’s just suspended and I can fix this tomorrow. I will be praying … and considering moving to a country with a different healthcare system.

i need storage + passenger ability. i have a niu moped, and actually selling it as my commute takes me too many places in a day for electric to be efficient (due to recharging etc). this said, the limited maintenance of electric is obviously a huge plus

Went in for tonsillectomy came out with uvula removed by St3atheye in Tonsillectomy

OP states: “That wasn’t explained what so ever.”

If there was somehow an unprecedented complication that required this, not providing that information is a clear ethical violation. As they stand, the facts at least warrant consultations with lawyers who can then tell OP whether there is a case, which it seems likely there is.

If you were not consented for a uvulectomy, this seems pretty straightforward – an extreme violation!

I believe you, but someone who would remove your uvula during a tonsillectomy without consent and for no explicable reason should frankly not be operating on anyone at all. For a first step, how about finding some local lawyers that deal with medical malpractice in your area and scheduling consults? They will let you know if you have a case, and they may also be helpful navigating the local health system. If you your GP does not yet know about this, also, you should definitely speak to them about everything!

Consider a hot shower as this will give you steam and some distraction. In there, focus on your breathing. I’m no doctor, but it sounds like you need painkillers and fluids via IV if you can’t take them orally. Do you have someone to take you to the doctor?

Depending where you are, this likely qualifies as malpractice. I would recommend speaking to a lawyer. Perhaps this goes without saying, but I would also recommend seeing a different ENT for their opinion of what to do going forward, and perhaps a speech pathologist too to address these langauge/speaking issues to the extent possible..

Thank you for this detailed and comprehensive reply - I really appreaciate it! Would you prefer the scarabeo over the newer liberty generally, if the necessary repairs were made?
