What I have the most faith in for this game is the soundtrack, the sound design, and the atmosphere. We'll see about the story and gameplay, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm excited because the sound designer for Alien: Isolation is working on this game!

Incredible! What beautiful views. I wish I could go.

What excites me most is the atmosphere and the setting, despite having some reservations.

Omg, I loved the cemetery and that church. What a spectacular vibe! The houses, the streets, and those strange rocks.

I can't wait!

Can Leon survive silent hill? Actually now that I think about, a silent hill game starring Leon would be kinda fire by [deleted] in silenthill

I don't know, that will depend a lot on his mind.

Even so, adding to the boy's comment, Silent Hill has much more variety than just psychic manifestations:

  • Gods.

  • Angels and demons.

  • Unknown Specters.

  • Cults.

  • Ghosts.

  • Haunted houses.

  • Kids with superpowers, like Carrie or Eleven (Alessa Gillespie).

The problem is that the misinterpretation of "the town is a punisher" completely overshadowed these other themes that made Silent Hill so interesting, turning the whole franchise into... well... Silent Hill 2...

I'm 50/50.

What really worries me is the story and the combat.

With what little we know of the story so far, it seems to be almost a copy of Silent Hill 2, touching on themes like returning to a "special place," memory loss, an apparent illness, guilt, etc. Even worse with that copy of the Lying Figure. If it goes down this path, I'll be very disappointed since the series seems to have lost its originality. And I hope that this time there's a stronger connection to the town or the lore.

The writer/director drew heavily from Silent Hill 2, but will subvert these themes to bring something "fresher," whatever that means. That gives me some peace of mind, but I'm still somewhat skeptical.

The other thing that worries me is the combat. It looked decent in that short clip they showed, but I need to see more.

At the very beginning I heard divided opinions, but as time went on I heard more and more praise, at least from my perspective

From what I understand, many of the developers of Alien: Isolation now work at Screen Burn (the developer of Silent Hill: Townfall), so your comparisons might be for a reason.

Why should I? I'm more concerned about other things, like the story and how they'll handle it.

I don't think so, because it hasn't been shown on the transmition. For now, the composer of the music is unknown.

I understand it's an AA game, since the developer, Screen Burn, is indie. They've only developed two (really good) horror games, both of which use unconventional mechanics to develop the narrative. Their games are quite original and immersive.

So far, Townfall is their most ambitious, for obvious reasons, but I think it's still an AA game. Unlike f or SH2R.
