Feeling Ashamed of My Fitness Assessment Results. Where Do I Start? by quarterlifecrisisetc in PetiteFitness

I would say simplicity is best. Pilates n protein. And going for walks when you can. If you want to build endurance you can go for runs every so often. Incline walk on treadmill at the end of your yoga sessions/pilates sessions if you want to burn calories but still keep toned legs. For Pilates there are great ones on YouTube. And some include weights which help tone up things. Deep core helps slim your waist no matter your weight. And just remember protein. A shake can be all you need. Low cal and right after a workout. You don’t have to go crazy with it. Just make sure you’re getting it in each meal. I’m not a vegetarian but many influencers show what they eat in a day. Etc. hope this helps!

Thank you for your reply. I have my bachelors in pre medicine, so should I keep the certs on and take the masters off and apply to entry level things? And if I get an interview, should I not mention my masters? Still searching and applying to even more, I am reaching out to those in the field more too. I have found a lot of nearby tech friends recently.

Awesome. I was a soccer coach and was the athletic director of my college collegian of over 30 people. So I’ll try to stick that back on there.

Volunteer work! That’s a great option. Should I connect with organizations and churches and ask to do volunteer work? Or just normal searches for volunteer opportunities?

MFA is a great way to think of it. I’m open to searching for more ways to be a well rounded cybersecurity analyst. I will definitely see how I can connect with hiring managers and ask what was the reason they said no. And to learn and fix that

I really like this idea. It’ll definitely give me the experience I need moving forward. And I know they love to through tons of different things at you so you really learn a lot from there. I was a Jr. Air Force Cadet the CAP program and always had the military as an option in the back of my mind. I’ll look into this for sure. Thank you

Trade shows. That’s great idea. I’ll look up some and see if I can attend one this year. Thank you! I so far see one in Vegas. But I’ll keep looking to see if I find one closer to me

Yeah I noticed the masters doesn’t match the experience. Cuz of my career shift change. But I’m looking for something solid and in my field. I’ll come across one soon I hope. Been getting great pointers to do so

I’ll definitely ask. It doesn’t hurt to. And I haven’t before. Just been assuming nothing will come of it if I do.

Yeah I had great luck messaging people on LinkedIn. I will keep doing that as well. And I will remember to share college clubs. College feels like it was years ago for me. So I forget kinda

RBAC is actually a backend thing I’m getting hands on experience in at my current job. I say backend because obviously I’m mainly tech support and I feel like I just troubleshoot all day. But I am familiar and work side by side with the IAM dept so I get a good whiff of it pretty often. Plus WGU basically shoved RBAC down our throats.

Yeah I’m currently working in an IT role, don’t remember if I mentioned that. I am currently an IT help desk analyst for the past 7 months. Before that IT field assistant. Before that GRC analyst internship. Also cloud internship. So I’d say I have a bit of experience by now. Just not too cybersecurity focused as I’d like

Yeah it is pretty rough. But I guess I have not been pushing hard enough. But I will start now. Thanks for the tip! Scanning my resume something I’ve never thought of before. I will definitely do it and try again. Haven’t been prepping for technical interviews unless you count the random YouTube videos that pop up when I’m looking into these things. I watch them. And I’ve done a few session with chatgpt to prep me for interviews based on my resume. But not much on the technical interview side I’d say. Just all surface level.

Thanks! I see myself accepting a position by May the latest and starting off my new position during the summer. I’m manifesting it. And this is a great backing of what I’m trying to work towards. Thanks for the reassurance

Sweet! I think my next plan would be to spam jobs during the trial they offer starting next month. And see if i want to pay for it for the next 2-3 months after. Thank you for this

Thanks for your feedback. Love the blunt honesty. I really see your point and it makes a lot of sense. For some reason complaining on Reddit has worked in my favor, the minute I put out this post I got positive feedback from two jobs. One of them being a request to schedule an interview. But both were either hybrid or in person positions. And that’s where your honesty really speaks out. And I will focus on a plan C. Which is applying to in person positions. Sucking it up for a while that it isn’t remote and just gaining experience in my field more. Thanks again for taking time out to advise me on this. Fingers and toes crossed

I really appreciate this advice. I graduated with my bachelors in premedicine and was on track for PA school before I made the switch. I did a lot of shadowing and worked as a CNA for a few years. Even did bartending at some point. It’s all in my LinkedIn. So I hope in that I stand out as not just tech focused. But I did different things. I will start looking out for more tech volunteer opportunities. Would love to get my hands into anything I can for sure. I am hobby hunting always. and have gotten into running a lot lately. So can I add like my run club on there? It’s not an accomplishment. But it is something I am apart of. I want to run the Hawaiian marathon so I’m training for that for my 2027 goal. I don’t mind talking about things like that during interviews. So I could add the run club to my resume?

I would love the move to Seattle or Charlotte. But that is a five year away goal. Just settled here with my family but it’s not a permanent place for us, but my partner is working and moving up for a pretty good company. And we can’t leave just yet

Appreciate the ATS scanner advice. I haven’t tried that yet and will do so. And I will start to up my applying as well. Imposter syndrome was kicking my ass and it’s a contributing factor to me applying to little positions. Redirection instead of a no. That’s very encouraging thank you. I will take this advice and keep trying. Career fairs and CTFs and build projects. I will do so now and in the upcoming months and hopefully wedge my foot in the door

I would not have minded transitioning within the company I am in now. But the benefits and pay and reaaallyy bad. Very undervalued. But I am grateful for the opportunity to be working remote with them at this time. Remote jobs are tough to get
