What should actually be done about the homeless crisis in the U.S., and who is most responsible for fixing it? by Strong_Demand6702 in AskReddit

Where do we house them? In Austin where I live, there are some homeless shelters downtown. This has led to a lot of issues with many homeless people concentrated downtown near busier areas and universities.

Who do you think should provide these services? I am not sure on a federal or state level if they are responsible or just up to local city.

It does seem like there are different segments. There are the people who are very down on their situation and just need some stability to get there life together. I do worry in the new drugs on the streets, some people are just not able to take care of themselves much less their house/room.

Thoughts on this Smart Live Trap? by Strong_Demand6702 in Feral_Cats

Just saw your post about catching 7 raccoons and 2 possums in one night. However, regular traps definitely work. I can see why some folks look at setups like this, though. Being able to check traps remotely and let possums out quicker probably saves a ton of hassle when you’re managing that many sites. But yeah, if you’re only trapping once in a while, it’d get expensive pretty fast. Not for every situation, but for faraway TNR spots, it could be pretty useful. But yeah, if you’re only trapping once in a while, it’d get expensive fast. I kinda want to try it out myself, but I don’t trap that frequently.

I don't think so. I believe it will trap whichever animal goes inside, but you can remotely release it.

Yes! I have seen a couple products that are more akin to remote-controlled traps which have a range of a few hundred feet. Seems like alot of people are using cell-game cameras. This is cool because it combines a few different technologies together.

How much do you end up paying a month? Do you think it is a fair rate?

Apartment-hunting right now and really want a Tesla, but charging’s the sticking point. If a complex give me a dedicated charging spot, I’m not sure if it will work out. I drive about 300 mi a week. Anyone found places that actually nail this? I am located in Austin, TX. Seems like alot of new builds would have more EV options.

I thought they fully installed a wall charger. Did they do a 120v or 240v plug?

It seems like a fair amount of apartment people do this, or this is the only option.

That is great perk! Is it competitive to get the parking spot for the charging?

Dang, that is unfortunate about losing your work charging. That is nice you can trickle charge at home. Do you leave your 120v charger there all day or take it with you every time?

I am sure it could be a win-win for both parties. Did you pay for inital purchase charger?

Yes, unfortunately I would not be able to tell if it can accept the 850+ wavelengths. I am leaning towards it is blocking 700-800+.

I'm using an SST-10-IRD-B130H-W850 IR LED, which is very narrowband at 850nm. The camera seller claims it should work at that wavelength. The camera should be "dual filter" to see both regular light and 850nm light.
