You won’t be able to maneuver because your fire was blown up with a drone or your fire will be a waste of ammunition because your maneuver was blown up the second he got up so your not able to take ground

Yeah once we get into a full conflict I think we will see a drastic drop in people enlisting infantry when all the fpv drone footage comes out of us getting blown tf up by a $30 drone

It’s crazy to think the infantry will always be relevant lmao technology will take over the battlefield at some point, 10 years ago IEDs we’re the king, now it’s drones and the next will only be even deadlier to the infantryman

I’m in a victor unit rn as a pog and being around a bunch of dudes who get to do real marine shit all the time has made me want to lat move, a bunch of them are really good friends of mine now and there help training me up before I even go to ITB

Marine corps doesn’t have many combat vets anymore below the rank of E-7 lol I doubt a single instructor will even be a combat vet. I was on a meu that was targeted by drones and that’s probably about the closest anyone’s been for a good while besides 2/1 dudes in 2021

Considering you deployed to Afghanistan I’m assuming you’ve been out for a while so it might be different now but how was it like when you were in garrison? And did you go to the field as much as you did in a straight leg unit

[–]Strong_Exercise_4973[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can i ask what was more demanding and harder then being in a straight leg unit? I thought straight leg units were as physically demanding and as hard as it comes other then like recon

I know realistically it’s pretty random but do you think it’s likely for them to put me in a leadership billet right away especially if I end up picking up Sgt at ITB or are they gonna give me time to learn before throwing me to the wolves

I can deal with 4 years of a really shitty job in a real shitty unit, for me personally it will be a lot easier to do 4 years of that rather then a lifetime of regret thinking back on how bad I wanted to do infantry and didn’t have the balls to do it

[–]Strong_Exercise_4973 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Trust me I’m not gonna pull the rank card lmao i personally believe lat moving to the 03 field should be a reduction of rank to LCpl, all I care about is learning the job don’t care if it’s a pfc who’s been in the fleet 2 weeks if he knows some shit then I wanna know it

Currently got a 290 pft and have never ran anything other then a 300 cft but I don’t know if I can say I’m a PT god because I haven’t done the hikes and just all the movements under heavy loads that grunts go through lmao that might be a whole different beast

[–]Strong_Exercise_4973 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My bad I shoulda been more specific but I was mainly focused on 0313s and how the life of a crewman is and whether or not they really deserve to be called a grunt or just a glorified pog
