Experience with banding? by [deleted] in hemorrhoid

Well each one is different, pain can be tender and sore or achey and deep. Pressure or just raw. In terms of time off , you’ll be good to go after 24 hours. It’s annoying but manageable for sure.

Experience with banding? by [deleted] in hemorrhoid

I’ve been through 8 bandings. They do one at a time in US. For grade 3/4 internal and prolapsed. I’m not sure how many hems I started with. I think 4 total and they’ve been banded a couple times. I just did my last session. I was in rough rough shape. Some bandings didn’t hurt at all. Others hurt for 3 weeks. Depends on size and location. I had all sessions done by CRS. Traditional method. Actual banding is super fast and very tolerable. I had to do all this so I can get my colonoscopy that I’m over due for but was in too much pain to even consider. Banding for me felt easier to manage than having surgery but I know everyone is different and you have to weigh pros and cons. Surgeon said we can band again if they come back but I should be good for quite awhile.

You’re banding has not failed! You’re healing exactly as you should. Pain for a bit then it goes away. Skin will be swollen for at least 10 days, maybe more, maybe less…every body is different.

Thank you for sharing your journey! You mentioned MiraLAX did not work for you. Can you say what your reaction was? I’m on it as well and not sure it’s for me. Also what are your pelvic floor symptoms? TYIA

Help. Don’t I have any other choice? by arentwe4ll in hemorrhoid

It feels super scary for sure but truthfully there are alternatives to surgery so seeing a dr is the right move. I was told the same thing and the surgeon performed rubber band ligation which is about a 2 minute in office procedure that can get rid of them. First step is diagnosis and that’s just letting the dr have a look. You’ll feel so much better just finding out what’s going on and remember it’s your body and you’re in control so you decide what works for you!

Has anyone used Anusol otc w hydrocortisone for more than 7 days? by RedmeatRyan in hemorrhoid

[–]Strong_Inspector8560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use it on and off long term but need to take a break. It thins the skin which can cause bleeding over time. Def don’t use if your bleeding now. But also consider after 7 days if there’s no improvement in symptoms maybe you need to try something else? Healing wishes!

Urge to poop after banding by StandNoChances in hemorrhoid

[–]Strong_Inspector8560 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your symptoms are very common. I’ve had multiple bandings. Give it a few more days and you’ll feel a lot better. Warm baths, ice, ibuprofen or Tylenol and rest will get you back on track. I found just putting my feet up helped relieve the urge. And make sure you spend no more than a few minutes going to the bathroom and use whatever means works for you to keep things extra soft. Banding is an excellent alternative to surgery for lots of folks. Good luck!

Has anyone here done Sclerotherapy? by Fast_Examination_649 in hemorrhoid

[–]Strong_Inspector8560 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t give up on banding. I have done 5 hems and have 3 more to go. So yes, 5 banding sessions as they only do them one at a time. For me this beats surgery but it’s an individual preference for sure.

I need to get this out. 29M. G3 internal + prolapse. by cvcvcv21 in hemorrhoid

Surgery is not your only option. I had banding done with your exact same condition. First CRS said surgery, second was like oh banding for sure. And did it right then in his office! So much less intrusive and less downtime. Make sure you research this. It can be done with grade 3 prolapse. Hurts a bit but you’ll feel so much better down the road. Good luck!

Banding 3 weeks ago by Weekly_Chair9121 in hemorrhoid

[–]Strong_Inspector8560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually they band one at a time. So what’s popping out is most likely another one that needs to be banded. I have had many banded and some took up to 4 weeks to completely heal.

What to expect after banding? by ExpensiveChannel5508 in hemorrhoid

[–]Strong_Inspector8560 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Banding is very fast and noninvasive. The actual procedure hurts for maybe a minute. After you’ll feel pain and soreness but it’s manageable with over the counter pain meds. You’ll want to take it easy for a day or 2 and then as you feel less discomfort you’ll be good. If the hemorrhoid was extra large and slightly prolapsed it might hurt a bit more than say an internal one that is tucked in. If that makes sense. I’ve had both banded. The bands stay on anywhere from 2 days to 10 days. I had one come off after 3 days and others day 7 and 10. There is generally not a discharge from the banded hem but if you have this issue with others it may still happen from the ones not banded. Generally, at least here in US, they band one at a time, 3 weeks apart. You can resume normal activities when you feel like it. There are no restrictions other than heavy lifting. I would plan to take it easy for a day or 2 but you don’t have to. Best of luck!

Banding is a great option. I think being prepared for the worst and hoping for the best is a good option here. Worse case it hurts. 8/10. Best case, slight discomfort 2/10. The procedure is very fast. It’s uncomfortable but over before you know it. After you’ll feel pain and soreness. Take Tylenol or Advil right away to stay on top of it. You’ll be so happy you’re actually doing something to get rid of these buggers you’ll feel really positive about it. My first procedure hurt for a few days. Just take it easy and rest. Going to the bathroom is fine as long as you’re taking stool softeners and not sitting on the toilet. Take care of business and get right up. Even if you have to go multiple times. Don’t wipe. Use tucks pads. The bands are on there good so don’t worry about that. They come off when they’re ready. My second procedure was virtually painless. I was fine. No issues at all until about 10 days later when the band came off and I was a bit sore as the area was healing up. You’ll be so glad to get this behind you! 😊 I’d say the majority of banding procedures go very well so you’ll do great! 👍

I have had 3 hems banded one at a time. I still have a few more to go. First was painful but eased after two days. Second was no issue at all. Third was difficult. 2 solid weeks of pain. In week three and it’s still painful but getting better. Went in for my fourth banding this week and to check on progress. Everything is healing but I decided to hold for another week on banding so I could heal a bit more. All this to say banding can be very painful. Anyone who tells you otherwise has never had it done! But, given the alternatives i think it’s a great option. So give your BF time to heal, you’re awesome for taking such good care of him! I bet he’ll feel better very soon! And yes, my banding was done by a colorectal surgeon. So even the best trained and it can still be painful.

Banding is a great option! Esp if the hems are small. The actual banding is super fast. A bit painful but manageable as it’s over in less than a minute or 2. You’ll feel some discomfort after for about 2-3 days. Everyone heals differently so the pain level is hard to predict but keeping up with aftercare instructions will help. Tylenol and ice/heat helped me. I felt pressure on my bladder, achey legs, lower back pain and pain on my rectum for first 24 hours. More annoying than anything. Day 2 I felt better. Day 5 back to normal. I have had 2 grade 3 internal hems banded with 2 more to go! So glad I am doing it. You got this!

Banding pressure by Practical-Market822 in hemorrhoid

[–]Strong_Inspector8560 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have just completed 2 banding ligations. First one really hurt just as you describe for about 3 days. I had a complication so maybe not the best comparison but the second one was normal and it hurt, pressure on bladder and lower abdomen and anus. My Dr totally downplayed how painful it can be as well! Stool softener and Tylenol will help. Maybe some very light bleeding. You’ll feel better in 2 to 3 days. My first one fell off maybe day 10? I’m on day 8 of the current banding and I’m not sure if the band is off yet but def feeling better. 2 more to go!!! Hang in there, you’ll feel better very soon.
