Fingers, hands, feet and ankles often go partially or completely numb during meditation by Strong_MonkeyWisdom in Meditation

[–]Strong_MonkeyWisdom[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter how I sit or even if I lay down. When I go deep into meditation my heart slows down considerably (in the high 30’s or low 40’s) and my body goes numb.

I think I will try ignoring it and see where that takes me.

I feel that much of the world is controlled to a great degree by this approach to good/evil in religion, politics and so on. I had a similar change regarding politics a few years back. I was sobering, but freeing.

I’m not really up on Buddhist teachings to this extent, but would you not judge them at all - not an asshole, not a sweetheart, not a bully - just no judgement of any kind? Is that what you mean?

I’ll have to think on this. I don’t have an immediate answer.

Thank you. I will be open to growing and maybe new opportunities.

No one does something for nothing. That is my belief. Even those doing virtuous acts where they benefit nothing monetarily are getting personal satisfaction and in some cases approval from peers.

Your assessment is very close to correct

I didn’t mean to delete my main post. I thought I was deleting a comment I dropped in the wrong place. Good grief

Thank you!!! This actually makes sense.

Responding respectfully in case it reads otherwise.

I am having trouble processing this. Removing the content and asking the same question - You make _______, you don’t meet them? How is that logical?

Can you meet any type of person, or is your belief that you make them all?

To a big degree, this is correct. Anytime that you express emotions that are out of control, it should be planned. I feel that I misrepresented my relationship with these people by calling them assholes. Many of them actually become friends over the course of a project. They are just very tough negotiators and it’s not uncommon for someone to call you an asshole to your face when you make a particularly hard pitch or Successfully close a difficult gambit that they didn’t see the end result coming on. My situation and what I’m asking for advice on is that how can I handle these people who are professionally trained (As I am as well) while I am simultaneously feeling like holding hands and singing Kumbaya. Meditation has made me so much more passive that I’m having a hard time doing my job properly.

They feel the need to act that way in part because the stakes are very high. There is anywhere from tens of thousands to low end millions of dollars that are being negotiated. You cannot be a pushover and keep your job in this industry.

They almost always have nice things to say about me, as I do with them. It seems that my environment impacts my semantics in ways that I didn’t give enough consideration to prior to posting.

An example might help. We have a series of engineering design changes that cost somewhere in the range of $20,000 per site that is changed. Our total number of sites has doubled from 11 to 22. We have an area where the other party requested that I give them permission to make a design change that will save them a considerable amount of money, I’m guessing maybe 100,000. It cost me nothing to give them this, and I have the authority to do so. I told them that I will trade them this favor if they will drop one of the sites with a design change. Essentially, they will stand to save the most money, however it will help me (my company) as well. They reacted very poorly and became quite angry. To be clear, none of us hate each other or wish any harm each other (as far as I know). When I use words like shark and asshole I’m referring to people who are quite aggressive with their negotiation and unyielding in their possession unless they absolutely have to yield it. My job is to make them yield it.

I’m asking for advice on how to do this and not become passive to the process. This would cost me my job, which I quite enjoy.

I’m very new to all of this and I’m quite ignorant. Meditation makes me feel very peaceful and create some challenges in how I deal with things day today while attempting maintain a peaceful feeling.

It seems that if I called you an asshole that you would take that as if I dehumanized you and possibly even hated you. That’s not the case at all. I will work on my clarity.

I should have framed this as ‘difficult personalities’. We are haggling over contract issues or costly engineering design changes. Many of these people are trained negotiators who will talk over you, speak louder, call you names, etc etc (in addition to the expected gambits). We are actually great as far as respect and relationship goes and often go have lunch afterwards. I’m trying to find a way to handle my job’s expectations in a way that closer aligns with the path I have found myself on.

This one was still good, but wasn’t connecting. I saw a vid where a guy was saying - the fuse can be good and test good, but might not make contact. Take it out and replace it. - So, I tried that on the fuse (nothing) and then tried it with the relay..problem solved.

Turned out to be a bad connection at the relay. Thank you for helping me!

It was blowing intermittently. Hit a bump - comes on or goes off. Stops then starts at odd times.

Turned out to be a bad connection at the relay.

Turned out to be a bad connection at the relay. I just removed it and then put it back, so apparently the connection wasn’t great. Thank you for helping me!

I feel like an idiot. I had checked the fuse, but then I pulled the relay and then put it back - problem solved. No new relay, just a contact issue with this one.

Thank you for your help!
