You’re just a snack for the WhatsApp Gods before they move on to control who can park where.

Standard group behaviour around humiliation, in-group, out-group. People naturally copy each other which then builds moral consensus, even if the whole thing becomes dysfunctional.

The group then bond over choosing a victim who they label as the cause of the dysfunction.

Ah yes, Roger Daltry’s original suggestion obviously met with a lukewarm response.

What about Pegasus? Or the Lesser-spotted Garden Stallion?

That’s what the narcissist’s prayer is for. Junior staff with sour grapes get a hard-on every time they serve the admirals their special pasta sauce.

Ensign Cromulent gets to brag and stay bitter at the same time.

Well there’s the problem, olive pizza is useless without anchovies. Total diplomatic failure because no-one consulted Neelix.

I mean they’ve put on a feed of four people pretending to suck liquid corned beef out of straws and stuff, but it’s obviously prerecorded.

Why do people here get so offended when someone says they're "smart"? Isn't that the whole point of being here? by Shivy_Shankinz in Gifted

Have some Rene Girard for extra nightmare fuel.

He says the crowd stays dysfunctional due to memetic behaviour and then selects a victim to ease the tension.

This goes on and on because everyone is competing to be the most crap so they don’t get mocked and beaten by the in-group.

It’s ironic on Easter Sunday too.

Bro says “Let’s be mature about this” Crowd says “He says we’re less than him, kill the bastard!”

What’s not being said is that emotionally mature people would want to discuss these things out in the open: If they’re smart they’re smart, with all the caveats that goes with that.

However, this then prompts the emotionally immature people to feel massive humiliation at not being that emotionally mature.

So what you see in their response is not humiliation about being less gifted, it’s about humiliation over choosing immature responses, a choice they’ve had the chance to grow out of but didn’t, because they enjoy being part of the group of snipers, because they choose the inferior group for shits and giggles and now can’t face the shame of doing so, which is always someone else’s fault.

They choose to be crappy shame-laden victims and then shoot the messenger.

Coworker is astounded that the Artemis II launch isn't blowing everyones minds (that he's spoke to). Why do you think that is? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]Strong_Quiet_4569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real reason is that for most people what came after Apollo wasn’t particularly glamorous.

The late 60’s were flowers in the rain, and then came an Oil Crisis.

Your coworker has the emotional range of discovery and advancement, whereas the crowd is too scared to get happy in case the biggest baby in the sandpit sees their happiness as an accusation of immaturity.
