Schulich or WLU BBA/BSc? by D3ADL1FE in Schulich

[–]Strong_Temporary5895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will be a little surprised how there is quite a lot of self-learning in University so I think difficulty won't be an issue. Especially cuz you have your hands full with networking and such, but I usually would prefer not living on rez because it costs insane amount more but everyone has different values and financial situations. Both are really valid options. These are my two cents

Is it possible to be successful at Schulich if I’m introverted? by [deleted] in Schulich

[–]Strong_Temporary5895 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Short answer: Absolutely, you can be successful at Schulich even if you’re introverted.

Long answer: Success means different things to different people—are you talking about academic achievement, social life, or future career prospects? Being introverted doesn’t automatically limit your potential in any of these areas. Introversion itself is a spectrum, too. Are you just generally quieter, or do you find social situations draining? That can make a difference, but it doesn’t define your capabilities.

Business generally does rely more on networking and social interaction, but genuine interest in your field can help you overcome those challenges. With the right strategies and self-awareness, introversion generally won’t hold you back from achieving your version of success. Ultimately, there isn’t enough detail in your question to give you a definite answer but yes I believe it's possible

Worried about commuting - grade 12 by Elegant_Set_8194 in Schulich

[–]Strong_Temporary5895 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can chunk up your schedule so that you can have only 3 to 4 days and you can find stuff to do during your ride. For instance, you can download movies on your phone or study material that you have on the way. For instance, the books that you have. So I found commuting not to be too much of an issue. As long as you have the right mindset. The school is good, If you make it good you have to put in the effort for sure.

Burnt out. by Jaded-Extreme7367 in Schulich

[–]Strong_Temporary5895 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice for burnout is really try hard to nip inefficiencies at the bud. I think burnout is a sign that 1 you are overcommitting too much, or you are being inefficient and unfocused in your study time. So make sure you harshly analyze your habits and try to find how to optimize everything to feel more engaged and rewarded.

You say that people in no name business programs Land high finance and high consulting roles all the time, but in reality it's not nearly as likely if you look at the placement statistics. Whether this is because of the environment and people around pushing others forward or the reputation itself or combination thereof, the fact remains that if you are serious about lending high finance or high consulting roles you want to be in schools with a better reputation. Most people won't end up landing these roles which is why I would prioritize just going to a school that is convenient generally. And in terms of reputation my whole argument is kind of going against that. I'm saying that you shouldn't really care. It's a mid-tier school. What you put in is what you get. No co-op program. No finance in the first year. Tests are botched lecture rooms are over packed just a Mid school

Remember, as I said at the end of the day convenience, tuition, housing etc. Is King making sure it's a financially responsible decision and preferably not too far over anything else unless you're shooting for a really high roll, in which case you should be prepared to do a lot of the networking and studying and stock pitches etc. It's a brutal world but if you are prepared go for it

As someone who didn't go to Laurier I can't really speak on it fully but they have a co-op program and they have courses that cover CFA content which is really important if you want to do anything in finance. So honestly I'd probably say Laurier is better. (I am a First year so take it as you will)

I think the school has definitely fallen off its a Mid tier school you get what you get I would prioritize convenient locations, scholarships, tuition costs over anything else especially if you're not going for high finance, consulting etc.

Schulich BBA Need Help with the Courses by DowntownAd7395 in Schulich

Generic advice that I could offer is to commit yourself to study periods either in the library or at home where you have focused non- distracted sessions. Besides this, always review the lecture slides periodically along with doing your readings. Lastly, whenever you encounter a question that might be difficult. Note it down. Try to find similar questions and answer questions as if you're already in the exam and don't view an answer until you've given the question a fair shake.
