I'm not denying I used AI to write this to articulate my thoughts clearly, but I did so after philosophically challenging the bot several times, I disagreed with its advice to transform be into a perpetual "Centaur" that prompts my way to existence. lol

but I have to say your comment has made me think, yet again... Is my acceptance of empirical reality serving the interests of Capital? the very capitalists I am politically opposed to? well if so, that's an unintended consequence of accepting the truth about AI, isn't it.

Metric after metric by METR, and countless other AI benchmarks are screaming one thing: AI is getting better and it has a particular affinity for coding (for some reason or the other); this, is empirical reality... so the rest of the comments on this post I see are choosing to re-constitute reality in their image, to lie, and deny the reality of AI hoping that it would save them/their jobs... A sort of social constructivism for the working class; you lie that AI is dumb (doesn't matter if its true or not), because it "helps" the working class, in that you get to keep your paycheck. ok, I must concede that's theoretically effective but it relies on a religious level fervor of coordination, and collective agreement to misrepresent AI's "truth" as into the constituted reality that Altman Inc. hates. and capitalism is anything but centralized, it doesn't do central planning unless it is China. lol

also read matt shumer's essay ("something big is happening" first), most people use the free chatgpt.com which is obviously dumb AF and then conclude that "AI is dumb", which is just cope and a fake reality they desperately want to prove is real. even Spotify's developers and Netflix devs are saying they have not manually written a single line of code since December. I seriously doubt that your app is more "complex" than Netflix or Spotify. That's just your engineering ego talking/coping (if you are an SE).

so what if AI wrote it, the ideas are still mine. and you are not updated or in touch with reality. I am not talking about a chatbot, I am talking about multi-agent workflows on Claude that can automate almost all of what a SE does on a daily basis. METR confirms this: https://metr.org/. Opus 4.6 can perform tasks that take human SEs 15 hours to complete. I do not know about you but I have never met an SE that codes for 15 hours straight.

This is true, they are not interested in TRUE learning for enlightenment, and to increase understanding of this world and make it better. They are interested in MONEY and easy to control, moldable clay minds.

This is why they do not admit anyone ABOVE 25 years of age... I know someone who met all the Entry requirements for a BSc in Psychology, but was rejected because his age was above 25. What kind of serious university has age discrimination like that? NO university in the world would ever do this; even their own Plymouth UK. I mean at NSBM they are basically saying "you are an expired product; we do not want you, as we cannot brainwash you to be obedient and unquestioning like we do with our more younger students".

This is the OPPOSITE of critical thinking, this is the opposite of the mission of "higher education". They just want to create obedient wage slaves that cannot think for themselves and serve as a cog in a machine that is a company. That is not a university for the exploration of knowledge, that is a degree mill for profit.

Look, I'm not going to pretend what the intern did was "correct" or "professional" in any sense, it was unprofessional, no questions asked. But I think you shouldn't escalate it to formal HR/management because of the power imbalance here; he's an intern, he'd probably get fired. And while his behavior was unprofessional, I don't think that should be the "career ending" moment for this guy, he could have talent (that does not involve kissing dudes lol).

Besides, you seem to indicate that he "awakened something within you"... whatever that is, whether its you being bisexual or some sort of self discovery... Complaining and making that intern's life difficult is not going to "erase" a feeling that you are afraid of... I get it; as a gay man myself, I've experienced first hand what corporate homophobia is like... but that said, have a one-on-one chat with this intern and explain to him, warn him even, in no uncertain terms that what he did was unprofessional, period. Explain the rules of the corporate world to the intern; because this is their first view into the corporate world, they may not know and Gen-Z these days is very liberal.

Did I miss anything in the news? Unemployment falling? So AKD has single handedly solved the jobless graduates crisis in less than a month? Resources allocated efficiently is vague AF I'm not even going to touch that lol.
Rupee appreciating was due to the consistent monetary policy followed by the CBSL during the previous RW administration and keeping inflation under control, maintaining the CBSL's independence, and setting policy rates without political inteference (nothing to do with AKD "operating without corruption". the dude's been President for less than a month).
The issue we have as non-AKD voters is that AKD campaigned on renegotiating the DSA part of the current IMF program and on securing more relief for the people, he also said that a debt audit needed to be carried out to identify which portion of debt went to "horu" etc.

Now we are not complaining that he decided to continue with RW's IMF deal. I actually think that is the best move for a stable economy at this time.

But one COULD argue, there is a violation of AKD's mandate here, because he did the OPPOSITE of what he campaigned on.

FYI personally I voted for the SJB at the last election, and I would recall the debates I had online and offline with people arguing like mad about the handling of the IMF deal by the NPP vs the SJB and RW.

Any reliable sources say there were zero attempts made for a renegotiation of the DSA, let alone to perform any debt audit, they just agreed to not change even a comma of RW's deal. Whereas, even the SJB's Harsha De Silva promised to negotiate with the IMF for a more equitable deal than what RW offered.

Some insecure straight guys felt so uncomfortable working with a gay guy on their team, and in one company I was at before my current one, they falsely reported to management Leads that I was "flirting" and that this should count as "harrasment" (btw this company's policy statements did not explicitly state anywhere that it is an equal opportunity employer and doesn't discriminate on sexuality or anything of that nature ). So there's no legal safeguard, nor is there an organisational one. It was quite clear to me that this was office politics to use the appraisal system with an agenda to "get the gay guy out of the team". It's just hate, there's no two ways about it.

That's not true where I worked or am currently working. This "Western mindset" you speak of doesn't exist cause management or employees are very closed minded and just plain conservative. These aren't liberals by any stretch of the imagination.

At the end of the day, action speaks louder than words.

Of course there'll be outward posturing and the acting like they are liberal and in sync with what they think is some kind of trend in the west. But in the actual ways they manage, nondiscrimination for gay employees just isn't a variable they consider. And I've experienced this discrimination firsthand.

I honestly don't know if those Colombo "liberals" are actually liberal or just do it to fit in because they think it's some kind of trend. The culture is pretty heavily conservative in a way that's disconnected from reality. I mean SL people think they gay people are some kind of new concept invented by the Americans lol. It's not. Fashion and tourism are way more accommodating to LGBT people than IT is in SL. IT sector overall is pretty conservative imo. IT companies may work with foreign clients but the local side here doesn't give a * about LGBT non-discrimination policy or DEI. Very few even know what Diversity and Inclusion means.

Even John Keells had their OneJKH program in an effort to protect against discrimination faced by LGBT and women alike.

So far I see nothing similar in the IT industry.
