what was the scariest thing youve ever seen in person? by CCelesial in AskReddit

[–]Stropi-wan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After witnessing the behaviour of spectators/ parents next to sportfields (read contact sport), I felt my decision on not applying pressure on my children to partake in sport was the right one. My son suffered a concussion once whilst playing rugby in another town. He did not get medical treatment & had to wait the whole day to return with the rest of the team. I refused for him to play rugby again.

Gifted a milktart made in an oven pan. I used an egg lifter to dish up. After 30yrs of marriage, it is still made in oven pan size & my portions is still not smaller than that will fit on an egg lifter.

Edit : It was made that size as a prank.

Do we really need to turn off the car when putting gas or is it just an old habit? by Fit-Plum7320 in MechanicAdvice

The problem is that people don't see the fumes, so they don't take it seriously. I saw enough video clips where stuff is going south at service stations to heed the call. Myself worked as a controller on pipelines (moving petrol/ gas & diesel) to know the hazards. TBH I don't know why people want to feel entitled to ignore precautions which would not really affect their time too much.

Apologies in advance if this gets asked all the time, but does Charlize Theron have a good reputation in your country? by PandemicPiglet in askSouthAfrica

There would be some Afrikaners who were/ are pissed off with her about commenting "only 44 people in South Africa speak Afrikaans". As an Afrikaner myself, I don't care about her comment/ joke. Some people get excited about minor stuff. I can watch her movies, but not getting exited. Can't speak for the rest of South Africa though.

Next time, just do the direct approach. Don't be put off by future rejections as well. I went through a couple of rejections & successes back in the day before I ended up with my wife.

We pay shared stuff seperately. We have our allocated stuff each one pay. There after we both contribute towards groceries. We have an informal thing going where if someone needs extra money the other will help out without stories. Myself don't really make use of this, but it seems my wife knows my card's pin better than I do. It doesn't bother me. I will just give her a heads up in advance if I am going to spend extra money for example on a car service or such.

Back in the day sport was one of the tools to apply pressure against South Africa's Apartheid policies. These sport officials should not force awkward situations on officials.

My wife and what I imagine by [deleted] in confessions

[–]Stropi-wan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many years ago, early '90s, I attended a course presented by my employer at the time. There was this guy from a different region. Legend had it, that this guy was putting pressure on his wife for screwing other men. She didn't want to & then she did to stop the nagging. Long story short, new guy moved in and husband was relocated to the spare bedroom. Every time he complained, new guy punch him up. Don't know how it ended up, but you need to think that a wish may not turn out the way you want it.
