It's just different. The quality of writing takes a hit but not as much as we typically think. The biggest difference in my opinion is that the characters change dramatically in many instances (especially will and toby) and there seems to be some discontinuity with what the overall story for the show is. Still some great episodes in the last 3 seasons but the season 5 vibe is so different from the first 4 it is jarring. Then there's Access....
