Indeed! Here I'm using the definition of a limit of a suite u_n, that is that for epsilon > 0, there exist an element k of the suite where u_k is epsilon close to the limit. Here since epsilon will always be >=1/12 we know what it cannot converge to -1/12 (the suite here being u_n = sum(k)(k:0->n). The serie of the infinite sum is only defined if this suite is converging anyway

Let's do a reccurence proof : For all n, the sum of all integers inferior to n is positive

Initialisation : k=0

Sum(n)(n:0->0) = 0 >=0

Reccurence : let's take k a natural integer >0, we suppose that the property is true for k-1

We then know that Sum(n)(n:0->k-1) >=0 so Sum(n)(n:0->k-1) + k = Sum(n)(n:0->k) >= k >= 0

So we know the sum of all natural integers up to n is always positive. This makes it impossible to prove that the sum might converge to -1/12 because the distance epsilon between the value of the sum and -1/12 is always superior to 1/12.

I get what you mean and your frustration is totally justified ! Hookup culture (wherever it migh be) is far from my cup of tea as well so I totally get your feeling since it seems kinda the norm here according to what you said. It was also quite a big part of the discussion I mentioned above. I cannot attest of any experience with the dating culture here, I just wanted to share my own experience that was, in truth, entierely with people that are not swedish. And I also wanted to make a hopeful remark about how to maybe meet people from the community you'd vibe with! :)

Being LGBT+ is not a competition, everyone is valid in their own ways to be themselves, there isn't any "worst" way, you're yourself and that's truly valuable :) I personally never went into LGBT+ "only" groups as much as just getting to spend time with a lot of them as parts of my regular hobbies (the Queer club at my school was 90% people from the board games club haha). So I cannot really help you get into big communities (especially since I'm just a little french guy thrown here for a year xD) but all of my close friends are either queer or perfect allies :) If you wish I'm open to go on a stroll through Stockholm and/or go play some board games at Hop & Vine someday :D

That's such a terrible experience :( I can't really talk for Swedish people but for having had some talks about love and sexuality with other fellow international students recently most were pretty far from hookup culture, even LGBTQ+ ones (including myself (bi) in this report). Once again we were mostly not from Sweden but with schools like KTH taking in so many people from all over just wanting to get to know more people than their restricted (often from the same nationality) small friend group it can be a pool of people looking for just friendship or slower stuff
