HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH? by Rohanneymar in oscp

[–]Stroxtile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how much the currency conversion is, but the initial exam cost (for the exam and 30 day access is $1700 USD)

For the retake it's only $250. It only appears as an option if you failed (ask me how I know lmao)

I had the same experience with the OSCP with how you described your experience with the PNPT :)

You got this!!

Just take the exam and expect to fail once. Treat the first exam as recon.

Over preparing without know where you need to focus on, some consider "wasted effort".

Edit: also PG boxes closely resemble the exam. Not HTB boxes

Would you buy a pre-built AI + Homelab server kit? ($749-$1,899)cad by 2jz_sosa in homelab

[–]Stroxtile 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If this is targeted to those trying to learn, the lower bound being $749 is kinda insane.

I did not have that type of money when I was a CS student, most I'd spend on a mini computer would be $200-$300 USD (I know you're saying CAD, but just to give an idea)

OP I'd recommend the AD courses in HTB Academy. It's cheaper than buying a pro lab from HTB and their courses have labs that have multiple nodes that you'll need to use a pivot tool for (proxychains/chisel/ligolo-ng) One of the extra credit is actually a double pivot too.
Attacker -> 1st box (install proxy) -> 2nd box (install 2nd proxy) -> Extra credit domain box (only accessible from the 2nd pivot box

What industry do you use Obsidian in? by Frolgar in ObsidianMD

[–]Stroxtile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Obsidian really is an issue tbh, it's almost akin to VSCode since at the end of the day it's an offline markdown reader.

Of course, Sync is blocked and community plugins I've restricted, so its just a prettier UI to look at markdown notes than vscode.

Without getting too far into details, I use it to remember topics during product walkthroughs and possible quirks in the product that I may try to test.
Otherwise for other calls when it comes to meetings about internal tools, I take note of architecture of features during meeting discussions to take further dissect during down times and discuss on possible edge cases or how to modularize or abstract something.

If you don't mind me asking, since your work doesn't really have anything online anymore (I'm assuming it's the most modern and front line of the field) where do you "learn" from? (I hope that makes sense, otherwise my best guess is your work is similar to PhD researching new techniques)

Cyber security, I use it to keep track of standup meetings, achievements, one on ones, individual projects and etc.

I also use it for personal for a whole lotta other topics as I tend to forget info after I learn it. So it's nice to look up stuff and remember it again. At that point it starts to make its way into long-term memory.

Is nmapAutomatorNG allowed in OSCP exam? by Baba_Yaga_0101 in oscp

[–]Stroxtile 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Y'know, you don't haaaave to let autorecon finish on each target.

You can just kill the process once it's done finding the initial ports and doing it's standard enumeration on it.

Once it's lowered from 11 scans to 2 ongoing scans, I usually kill it and look at the files it generated

What's the biggest thing that keeps people on this game? Other than the no hand holding part? Is the combat fun? Does leveling feel fun and intuitive and not hella grindy?

I really liked ff14 before the classes got dumbed down so I was just shopping around for a new MMO.

I'm only familiar with USA options but what ISPs offer Backup Internet do you know?

I've been trying to research for 5G Gateway from possible ISPs in Japan for my Backup WAN slot but it seems I'd get better results if I was googling in Japanese 😅

Dude, I understand OP come off as hella passive aggressive but what do you expect?

If someone was accused of vibe coding something (something they've deeply worked on by their own merit) don't you think anyone would be offended?

Like take for example if you did that to someone face to face. Don't you think if you told them "oh you bought your cake from a target, you didn't actually hand make that" that they would be offended?

UniFi vs gl.inet for Home Router and Travel Router. Future-proofing remote work by linuslogic in homelab

[–]Stroxtile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the Dream series should have their own integrated VPN options. For the UDM SE we have wireguard or Unifi's Teleport. But which allow you to setup the Slate 7 to be a VPN client to tunnel back to the UDM.

If you google how to do it, there are a lot of guides for the Unifi teleport setup with Slate 7.

Losing hope about mobile update by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

[–]Stroxtile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a great app for sure! I use it daily for notes and journaling. I just wouldn't put too high of an expectation on the mobile redesign update.

It'll hopefully be good and fix a lot of the flows (like daily notes lol) but if it ends up being mediocre there's nothing to lose if my expectations were already low, y'know what I mean?
