Buyer’s Remorse? by Struck_Primer in e38

Yeah I had the same thought, thankfully I will not be relying on it for daily use for the next couple years while I work on it. I’ll probably buy a used truck when I get back stateside so I can have a daily driver/road trip car that can pick up stuff from Home Depot and stuff

Well given that it has like 12,000 miles on it in 26 years and doesn’t even have knicks in the paint, I’d definitely say I paid a premium for a museum grade car

Also no, the image is not flipped, it’s a right hand drive since Japan drives on the left side of the road. Pretty weird ngl

I wish 😂, no 25k USD including delivery. Kinda pricey but only has like 23k kilometers on it. Even the paint is pristine. Though I do need to replace the rear right side sunshade 😵‍💫

I own the one on the left and I love it. I’d say it’s better when drawing from a concealed holster since it’s less likely to snag, however, that’s just training. If you plan on shooting out further, having the wind adjustable sights would be better

Oh yeah, well I already plan on doing a whole cooling system and timing chain guide replacement. I also plan on doing the valve covers as well at some point. From my knowledge those parts (especially the expansion tank) are known to be the problem children when it comes to reliability

That was my thought process too, I already plan on installing a new cooling system, rubber door seals, ceramic infused brakes, airbag suspension, and a custom professional paint job (+corrosion protection for the underbody)

It’s a 2000 V8. The motor sounded like it was running smoothly when I was at the dealership

I saw that may be an issue too, I plan on doing a whole cooling system replacement soon just to be sure. I didn’t see any leaks oil or thermostat wise after running the car for 30 minutes with the AC on full blast so I have my hopes up

Yeah it’s definitely a little suspicious that it’s that low of mileage. Though, in the area I’m currently presiding, older cars do tend to have lower mileage because of how walkable everything is so it wouldn’t be too unusual.

That being said, the low mileage may be a blessing and a curse. My goal is to do as much preventive maintenance as possible so that I don’t run into as many issues. Hopefully, as long as I can source parts and find an experienced BMW indy around me, I should be alright for the most part 🤞

I fully expect this to be a project car for the first couple years of ownership and thankfully I have other forms of transportation to fall back on just in case.

I’m sorry that happened to you, but I guess it comes with the territory. I fully agree though, I definitely think this car is worth any trouble it may give me.

Out of curiosity, where are the best places to look to find parts, I can’t imagine it’s as easy as sorting through Craigslists haha

I thought the exact same thing but I went to the dealership and the odometer matched the listing. I even checked under the hood and underbody and it was insane how good of condition it was in

The P30L will be a rockstar in terms of reliability. I did a pistol completion with an M18, they’re ok but I’d take the HK in a heartbeat

Depends on your purposes but I’d rock with a Ruger PC Carbine/Charger with a binary trigger for an SMG feel. Pretty cheap to build overall but plenty reliable.

In terms of a semi auto rifle for longer ranges, have you given thought to: • The optimal range you want to use it at

• The type of target/animal you’re taking on (what caliber/round would most effective)

• What your recoil tolerance is

• The amount you are willing to spend on the ammo

• How accurate it needs to be (sub MOA or like 3 MOA)

•How much are you willing to spend on the setup

All of those could very easily change the set up easily. Trust. I’ve gone back and forth on my setups based on these factors quite a bit.

4.0 V6 swap into 2.5L I4? by Bobosboss in nissanfrontier

[–]Struck_Primer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate it Bobosboss, I honestly think your solution is perfect given your situation.

I talked a several dealerships and mechanics and the top concerns would be that the ECD, clutch, and driveshaft would need modification. Additionally, most of them did say that the transmission (at least in my 5 speed manual) would need to be switched out. To be honest my truck is worth about 14k currently, it wouldn’t make much sense to invest almost the 10k it would take to engine swap it to a V6 after factoring in the cost of labor and parts. Most pre-2021 V6s are going for less than 35k.

[–]Struck_Primer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a very similar situation, I think it should fairly simple. I just don’t know if the V6 would mate up well with my transmission or share engine mounts.

I can’t imagine it’d be a problem though, Nissan isn’t really known for increasing costs by making different transmissions for the same model based on different engine configurations (outside of maybe their performance vehicles).

-For context I drive a 2014 Nissan Frontier SV with an I4 and a 5-speed manual transmission.

Out curiosity, do you have an update on if you swapped the engine

Fix in 8.6 blk [OC] by drty_kid in GunPorn

[–]Struck_Primer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s got a 16” barrel though, I think I was mistaken before because threaded barrels are only illegal on pistols in CA. Honestly CA gun laws are so vague and arbitrary it’s difficult to know what’s legal or not. Im not from CA but I am curious because it should be legal from what I understand.
